Well, I know there's allready threads about this, but I was thinking this could be the official thread for the actuall game, who now has left beta-stage (that's why I consider that thread to be a little inapropriate, so to speak. The other thread has the not very obvious name: "For you who never played MMORPG's for the monthy fee" (take and add a few words)).

It's out. At least here in Sweden. When my brother said they called and said they had copies in, the first thing I did was recharge my wallet and took the next bus downtown. Now, oe hour later I am a proud owner of Guildwars (and allso a nice looking mouse pad, who quickly exchanged my old, plain blue one <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />). The servers still starts at Thirsday, the 28:th April 2005 though (I think).

It's out world wide, I'm going to buy it this instant. Me and my brother will probably do all the missions on our own, like we did in the beta weekends. So we'll create the most PvE friendly characters. We'll then take all the time we need to unlock pretty much anything we need for our best PvP builds.

And I'm planning to read about character creation now (and after I come back from my pianolesson), so general tips there could prove usefull too. I started playing this Thirsday. I'm a lvl 7 ranger, and thing the game is slow in general (for the moment). Think I've made most quests (have NO general quests, which is kind of strange) in the beginning, and are kind of clueless on what to do for the moment. Whant new skills, getting kind of tired of the old ones...

The other is Level 5 or 6, and doing every quest in Pre-Sear Ascalon.

2 others haven't played with, but resereved names.

I was able to install and enter the game using my preorder box and key.

Created some warrior, looked at the world and it seemed to be very nice - that water is just unbeatable by any other game <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Will log in more later, now addicted to WoW.

Sorry I don't know, but I do know that getting this armor is a waste of time. It barely protects more than the starter armor and you can craft way better stuff as soon as you get past the academy.

My main character's name is Roscoe Thorngage. The problem with my main character is that I only play him with my brothers, I'm still trying to figure out wich class combo would work well for my secondary character. So, add Roscoe Thorngage to your friend's list, you'll still be able to see if I'm online even if I'm on another character.

I have discovered that an Elemantalist is good if you choose Monk as a second prof. It seems to work good.

To bring up your friends' list press "n". There you can add people to your list or ignore them.

As for class combos, there really isn't any combination that doesn't work well. While monk secondary doesn't complement your damage so much, an elementalist/monk can be a very good healer thanks to energy storage, their primary attribute. You can cast more heals than a primary monk before running out of energy.

Sorry to chain but i was thinking about Luc's toon and though i have not yet tried this I was thinking of making a Elementalist Mesmer or Elementalist Necro

I was thinking either Ice spells for the abilities to mess with other players and then some hexes and mana steal, that or you could go with earth spells to buff yourself and your team and hex the enemies...

If you went Earth Necro you could cast the gravity spell (the one that pulls all the enemies together and then the necro curses plus disease so they all get the curses...just an idea

The thing is that this game is superb. Really. All strange things happened to me...

When we started the trade, I told him that he should give me the money first. At the moment I am in a guild with very very young people (12 years old). They asked me to help so I could not resist... Can anyone explain what the dp is? I mean I know that when you die there is a dp that is been put to the char, when you get to town but please could someone be more specific?

dp, or death penalty, lowers your maximum health and energy by 15% each death. You can remove it by either killing monsters or going to a town.

Apologies for not contacting anyone. I get caught up making new chars and I find the henchmen far more reliable to travel with most of the time. I'll take down some character names and see if anyone is on tonight. I play in the international districts usually for peace and quiet. Loading times are shorter and lag is far less common there too.

Hairy Pie Me/N (not done much with this one, can maintain 7-8 pips of degen for a while though, good on single targets)

Ivor Pooshot R/Mo (constant good damage, poison dealer and interrupter, needs barrage-nuff said)

yep, in the guild window, click the little icon left of your name, you'll get the option to quit the guild there.

lately my guild is going inactive tho, dammit, and our guild that is our friends guild has 100 members, so I can't join them either. They are PALO, a pretty good guild. my guilds PP, we're not even in top 1000, lol.

I have a question though: what is the maximum level you can attain in this game? I've only heard of people talking about their level 20 characters and I'm hoping it goes further than that.

Level 20 is the max but then you still have TONS of skills to get. Because the game is about player skill and definitely not about character level. As you get lots of skills you'll just have fun creating different characters builds and trying to find a way to counter something someone else did.

So despite the low level cap, there's still a lot of things to keep you busy.

I've been waiting since it came out, but couldn't earn the real life gold peices I need to buy it, and a pc system able to run it on.

Altho this about to change, in a month or 2 tho <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" /> Finnaly my training is over, and this is my second month full pay, (not payed out yet for last month) so by the time I got enough to buy a high end pc system and GW + enough to cover may daily expenses etc. I want to make sure I won't be a lonely wanderer in the vast world.

I've always been a multiplayer guy, DD and BD are the rare cases of SP games I finished.

Keep this thread alive, so I can learn while I check my bank account frequently.

Hi everyone. It's been a while since I have been here last time.
Glad to see everyone is still around.

I have a question to those mostly veteran Guild Wars players. After spending some time with the game, does it stil keep you interested, does it still keep you involved?

I was the one who purchased both WoW and Guild Wars at the same tme, but prefered WoW and skipped GW entirely (ok I have a couple of lvl 1-4chars, that's it).

As of now, I am almost ready to cancel my subscription to WoW and maybe switch to GW.

What I dont like in endgame WoW is, that you can most of the time do just 3 things: go grinding for some loot (money), what is boring, go into instances, and every instance takes about 3-4 hours (nonstop) to complete and finally get into Player versus Player, which is carried mostly in Battlegrounds, where one BG session is somewhat 30 min, but the queue times are 2-4 hours.

If Guild Wars different? And please describe, what aspects of the game still keep you interested? Getting another cool looking weapon or another piece of armor or getting another rank in PVP as in WoW, or is there anything else whats interesting about GW?

Is GW suitable for more casual player? How long are lategame instance sessions? I understand, there isn't such term as high lvl in GW, as you can reach 20 fairly quickly, but I think there still is something that makes longer playing lvl 20 characters different from lvl 20 newbies (skills, outfits maybe?)

Ahh, and if anyone interested to get information about WoW, just ask me, I will do my best to help.

Lews is your guild still going strong? I am thinking about starting this one up again and dont really have anyone to play with. I have a lvl 20 Elementalist monk but she hasnt ascended or whatever yet so I would need some help getting to endgame and getting some of the uber skills, let me know if youre interested, I have alot of MMO PvP experience so I could be helpful.

pRp sort of broke apart. A few people are still in it, but not as many as before.

Now I am in an old guild. I was friends with them in Beta, and they've recently come back. I think we are still looking for a few new people, but just go to The Fianna and just ask.

We only play PvP once a week now, sceduled, but it helps us stay together, and we play CS:S and BF2 alot as well.

I've never done PvP before, always did PvE in those few free mmmorpg I played, now I did play 5 beginner battles . I enjoyed PvP.

I do think it would be hard to join your guild as I'm on the European servergroup <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

PvP in GW is very safe. Its not like items break or you lose XP when you die. Its a great game for beginners to PvP. The game I am currently waiting for (Darkfall) is not so nice. When you die, there is full loot, i.e. everything on you inv and equipment can be looted.

Nothing against GW, the PvP is pretty good.

Can be or will be? sounds very harsh, is there some sort of compensations like cheap items or high rewards for winning?

No rewards really, I liken Darkfall to the Anti-WoW.

There will be no instances, no safe zones, no uber items that you have to have to be a viable high end toon. Equipment will be more generic from what I understand, and the best items will be made by crafters not mob drops.

I love PvP but once you get into High End players it is really drama-ey. I decided to take a break, but a bunch of my friends are still in the top 20 guilds.
