Awesome game but I might miss the hidden source? - 26/03/20 04:37 AM
Hey friends!
First I wanna say I love the series, I played for hundreds of hours and still explore new ways to play it. I am your average RPG gamer, never go easy, (almost) never go hard.
But what gets me every-time I play D OS 2 is Act 2. I feel like it is impossible to make choices due to the premade level-route. I really don't want to get my source from Mordus or the Lizard Sourceress. But I always feel I would cripple myself even trying to avoid accepting it after I more or less have done their task. Is there even a trade off? Is it even possible to dodge taking their teaching?
Playing after that in the Black Pits with some epic fights and helping the little Sahelia, helping Lohse on her Demon quest with the lvl15 demon stuff... It just feels wasted. Even more since that Meistr of us just tells us to leave and telling Malady (never tried - can you really leave at 2-3 levels under what you should to act 3?). I always told me it's some elitist play - I just don't see the "granted exploits" to go from top do bottom, I just am too bad to just skip levels. But I wonder, is that good design, even if it was that way?
Flexible levels are some common thing in nowadays games. Bad to tune, I know but Driftwood feels so much like a flex-zone. Maybe someone can explain me if I am indeed correct: I am just too dumb to see the ladders that make levels not relevant. Or if it is indeed just some wasted potential.
See ya!
