Posted By: Lynn Patch V 1.45 for ENGLISH version released - 26/05/04 04:25 PM
We have just released patch 1.45 for the English retail version of Beyond Divinity.
This patch will fix some issues that weren’t addressed in the previous patch. This game update will upgrade Beyond Divinity to version 1.45

For more information or to download the patch, follow this link
I have downloaded and installed the 1.45 patch (english) and I am still experiences problems with invisible monsters out in the black areas. No "boss monster" at all in the battlefield dungeon. any suggestions?
Boss monsters and quest items in the BF are randomly placed on the 3rd level of one of the dungeons, so it is not unusual for any particular dungeon to contain either nothing or multiple bosses.

This was explained already.....simply put.. there was some changes made to the "last minute" BF as they were too large so those "monstors" you are seeing on your screen are "stranded" there with no chance of escape, and no relief of death from you or me....we have tried to organize a "search and destroy party" ......but we are hoping it will come out as an "expansion pack" <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif" alt="" />
Hope this answers your question! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />
if you use the lightning storm spell, you can still kill them.

I had a YIT ISOS from the first act in an Owl's rope belt with one socket. Perhaps it was a YIT KOOR, which gives Int, which in turn gives mana. This was the YIT charm that gave something like 70 mana.

After installing Patch 1.45 the belt disappeared. I have restored many saved games and each time the belt is gone. It doesn't matter whether I reply yes or no to the query about fixing the bad items. I know it was there before I installed the patch.

Is that YIT back in the game to be bought or found again? Other YIT ISOS/KOOR charms don't seem to give that much mana.
There is a yit-iceri charm in the room with 2 portals in the maze level of act 1, that gives 100 mana (charm effects).
Pag/silver charms can be bought in act 2 (with maybe a fairly low chance of yit/gold charms showing up, IIRC). In act 3 yit charms become a little more common.
I downloaded the V1.45 patch (from Gamespot) and when I tried to install it, I got a message stating "This is not the good game version". When I checked the splash screen in the game, I found I have version 1.320, and it also states that the version of the game I have is "for distribution in Australia & New Zealand only". This is the only version on sale in Australia, so it had better be a good version!

I only bought <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beyond.gif" alt="" /> last week, and have been playing unpatched, but I would like to have all the good things from the patch (particularly the inventory management changes). It sounds to me that the patch makes the inventory behave as in DD, which was much better, in my opinion.

Can someone please advise if there is a patch that can be used with V1.320?

are you sure you downloaded the correct patch (language-wise) you might have the German patch

and you're sure it's <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beyond.gif" alt="" /> you've got... not <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" />
No, I downloaded what I thought was the correct patch, for the English version, but I've just spotted the thread which states there is a 1.45 patch for the AUSTRALIAN version! This is the first game I'm aware of where there is a separate version for AUSTRALIA! Usually we get the US or UK versions, so I thought the English patch was applicable for all English speaking countries. Silly me.

When I did a search on "Install Patch", only this thread came up, and I posted my problem. When I checked for replies, I found the thread about the patch for Australia. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ouch.gif" alt="" />

So now I'll d/l the Australian patch!

<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" /> I wonder what's different in the Australian version, from the UK and US versions? Kangaroos? Characters speaking in Strine?

no, it has sth to do with the starforce protection if i'm not mistaken

Starforce protection? Is that what that annoying thing at startup is called? I call it something else. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shhh.gif" alt="" />

That's the one. I've been minding that charm all through the game, and it disappeared with the 1.45 patch. I don't think any of the other Yit Iceri will give 100 mana, but I'll look for one.

Why would the patch gobble up the owl's belt with the charm? I know I had it before installing the patch because every so often I'd check to make sure I still had it. Yet, no matter what save game I load, the charm is missing, and the belt is called Lucky Belt, or something like that.

Is there anyway to check the inventory saves for the belt? I just made a copy of one inv file and opened it in word pad. Can't read a thing.

I have just proven the problem with the Owl's rope belt and the 100 mana charm.

If I let the game convert the items when I load the saved game the Owl's rope belt turns into plain rope with no charms and no bonuses. I was mistaken when I said it turned into a lucky belt. The lucky belt was in my inventory before.

If I say no to the question, the Owl's rope belt is OK. I was also mistaken in my previous note when I said it was clobbered whether I let the game convert or not.

I have a save with the belt in the chest in the Hero's House. Depending on which way I load it, I have the charm or lose it.

Does anyone at Larian want a copy of the save file?

Now I have a question. I had no items that were misidentified in that save, or nothing that came out better by letting the game convert. If I don't let the game convert existing items, will it still handle new inventory items correctly? Will it bug me with that convert query every time I load?

Do you have a save before you used the charm? You should be able to swap inventory files to get it back in your current save, and could also try with the belt. I don't think there is an easy way to search the inventory files directly, but you can load each save to check.

Lost Items - guide and directory of inventory files (written for DD, works for BD)
OK then, hello everyone (for this is my first post in a LONG time, since back when I was playing Divine Divinity!) and have noticed quite a few issues and bugs, none critical, but I see there doesn't seem to be a specific "Tell us your bugs" thread, so thought I'd mention what I've found and hope that it might get fixed later... just say if they've already been mentioned, sorry if they have lol

1. Bone Spears showing up as rings, but having the stats of a weapon. They are actually worn as rings too... weird

2. Quite often during a speech section, instead of the correct speech being spoken, I hear "I think you're in the wrong cell" from very early on in the game if I remember correctly. The actual text in the box is correct, just the spoken part is incorrect. This is very intermittent

3. At the end of Act 1, when facing Samuel, he mentioned about me using the rum to bribe a guard, when I'm still holding it in my hands and never used it! If this refers to the guards outside the end of level, I rang the gong and fought them

4. The Diary Map keeps blacking out when I revisit a Battlefield dungeon, but in squares. As soon as I reach the edge of the square, it opens up, but it's a pain to keep having to wander around again

Oh yes, gamewise I'm playing 1.45, brand new from the start (Installed the game and patched straight away, and it's never been uninstalled) Hardware wise I'm using a P4 3400, 1.5 Gig DDR, GeForce 6800 Ultra (256 Meg) and Windows XP Home Edition (SP1) and DirectX 9.0b if it helps

I hope after 1.45 Larian are still working on a further patch? *fingers crossed* Don't give up guys
The bone spears and BF map problems are well known issues.

Someone else had a problem with that speech clip being played in the wrong spot. It was before getting to the cell in the arena hallway where it is suppose to be played. This was in the demo or maybe shortly after release. I don't recall having any out of place speeches in the demo or with the released/patched version.

The reference to the white rum was for the quest to steal a book from General Bram's room, gotten from the merchant Tully in the citadel.
The number of dialog lines were either cut or restricted from the start due to localization costs. They may have been planning multiple speeches at the end of the act, that may have originally been intended to be a required quest, or there was a miscommunication somewhere about what needed to be added to the story or cut from the dialogs.

There is a similar problem in act 2 when talking to the alchemist. After agreeing to get some items for him, the dialog advances prematurely. If you talk to him again right away, you get the speech that should only come after bringing all the items (that doesn't cause any problems, though, just confusion).

The Larians are working on another patch.
Thanks for the update Raze, much appreciated!

After having applied the patch I've found that my summoning doll is no longer in my inventory. Worse, when I encounter the Demon Asmodeus I can no longer collect the doll he leaves... this leaves quite a hole in the plot.

Before the patch: I had solved the mushroom spore quest but the cure remains in my inventory and the quest remains uncompleted in the diary... if I try to discard the potion the quest comes back. I've checked the forest and the imps are definately gone (cured one presumes).

If you solve the quest, you do get a temporary quest solved message ( "I've freed the paralyzed imps and as I expected, they were very grateful.")
However as soon as you try to move the potion the quest reappears in your log.

What happens when you try to pick up the Raanaar summoning doll?
I'm having intermittent save game errors with this patch, which I didn't have before installing it. It happens every 3-4 saves. I get a message saying "there was an error saving this game to your HDD" or something very similar. It saves it as a .tmp file, so then I end up having to save the game again and renaming it. This doesn't appear to be affecting any other part of the game, and it's the only bug I can see, but it is really annoying.
Are you shutting down all non-essential programs (especially anti-virus) before starting the game?
Have you run a scandisk and defrag on the hard drive the game is installed on?

Yes to all.
Unfortunately, I don't know what else could be interrupting the save process. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />
The only other reason i can think of is: Installing the game in administrator mode (or power user), and then playing it as a limited user. That may cause a rights issue in the OS, where it may not want to allow the person to save to that location (it may sometimes sees that location as protected to the user that installed the game).

But unless the computer is running multiple users in different levels of access rights, or is on a domain, this shouldnt happen, unless there are some 3rd party rights manangement program installed (like the type that makes control panel inaccesible or password protects some programs and directories).

"Net Nannies" are also famous for changing acccess rights to some directories (espesially "program files" which is where the game installs to).

I'm playing the game in single-player mode on my own PC. I have Windows XP. There are no 3rd party management programs installed to my knowledge, unless they piggy-backed onto some program as spyware or something. I run Ad-aware and Spybot every so often, you'd think they'd catch anything like that

Other than the windows "rights" issues, i cannot begin to think what may cause the problem.

Rights management programs dont come as spyware (thank heavens as that would cause absolute havoc on a computer).

The only other thing that i may suggest is re-installing the game, but this time dont use the default folder. Change it to a folder like c:\games\larian\beyond divinity\ where windows wont try and have a say over who can use it or not (in other words not a protected location like c:\windows or c: program files or c:\documents and settings

Just for interest sake, if you go into control panel, and then go into users, you will be able to see if you are an "administrator" or a "limited user"

Windows is a very funny beast sometimes, especially when patches are involved.
Sometimes the best bet is to copy your saved games folder and its contents.
Totally uninstall the game.
Reinstall the game.
Reboot as required.
Install the latest patch and then put your copied saved games folder back.

I have found this has helped me with many games.

Good Luck <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Well I downloaded the english version and it is telling me the same thing..
"This is not the good game version"
Last time I checked I was still in the U.S..... lol
I do not get why the patch will not load up.

It is bugging me that it won't work as it took FOREVER to download, cause I live out in the middle of nowhere and we can only get "dial up" connection.. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ouch.gif" alt="" />

anyhoo... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/offtopic.gif" alt="" /> my other problem is that in the 2nd battlefield... I cleared the whole area.. as.. well.. there was NO ONE THERE!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/sleepey.gif" alt="" /> I read all this stuff about hack/slash in the battlefields yet I am not incountering any of that. In battlefield one... the 1st time down I did not find anything to fight.. then when I started the game over from the very begining.. I encountered battles. BUT.. now I am not getting anyone to fight down in 2 or in 3. The halls are totally EMPTY!! Talk about a total BORE! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/sleepey.gif" alt="" />

anyhoo...I have rambled long enough.. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />
can someone please help me????? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
PLEASE....

PLEEEEEEEEEASE!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" /> lol <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/silly.gif" alt="" />

The no-monsters in the battle fields, are one of the problems fixed with that patch.

The only thing i can think of is either that the patch was downloaded corrupt, or that you may have the wrong version of the patch... the australian version has its own patches.

What error does the patch give you?
What english version of the game do you have?
(hip games = US)
(digital jesters = UK) both of these will work with the normal english patch.
I am not sure who the Aus distributor is, but if its not Hip or Jesters, then it is the aus version.

If you try to download the patch again, try to use a download manager like download accelerator plus, it will not only make it faster, but also has better parity checking than normal downloads.
The patch checks the registry for the install path. If you installed the game from an account in Windows XP without administrative privileges, or used an over-aggressive registry cleaner, that could be the cause of the error.
You could run regedit (click Start | Run, type in 'regedit' and hit Enter) and check what is listed for the 'Version' under the key;
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\LarianStudios\BeyondDivinity

The North American / UK 1.45 English version patch I have is 22,294,413 bytes and has a CRC32 value of 9e4630a2. This is the cyclic redundancy check used in zip files, so if you have an archive manager that displays this under advanced properties, or something, you could zip the patch to check that it matches my version. Alternately, there are other programs to compute this value, such as FileCheck. Usually corrupt program downloads give a different error, so I would check your registry first.

Hi,

I have send you an email regarding this.
When more people have this problem, please contact support@larian.com

Thanks,
Lynn
I have the Hip Games version
I am PC stupid.... so.... reading what Raze was telling me has my brain hurting.
I have no clue what was being said.

Well I take that back.. I know allot about PC stuff.. I just do not know what I know. I am not "schooled" in computers I am totally self taught..

The file that was sent to me I am unable to open after I unzip it.
I am sorry if I am annoying anyone here..
I don't mean to be. I usally go to my hubby for help on these matters but he is REALLY busy at work and I do not want to bug him over a game.

Thanks a mill you all! You are so nice to help.
<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />
[color:"orange"]The file that was sent to me I am unable to open after I unzip it.

There were no instructions in the email?
What is the name (and extension) of the file? If the name and extension match that of one of the files in the 'Beyond Divinity' folders, then I would guess it is suppose to be a straight replacement.
Here is what it said

Our apologies for this inconvenience.
Please unzip the file in attachment and double click the vbs file.
This should fix the problem.
If not, please contact me again.

The attachment is CreateBDReg.vbs file and I can not open it at all.

I am running Windows98

does that make a differance?

Called hubby at work and he asked me about it and I told him
He siad that he would add everything manually if he has to when he comes home.
Is there any way to avoid that?

Sorry I am so dorky lol
vbs = Visual Basic Script

This is a script file, so needs an interpreter installed to run (the vbs file basically contains a list of instructions that the interpreter reads and executes). Since your husband is familiar with Visual Basic Script, he can look at the file and follow the instructions manually (there should only be a couple things to add/change).

Windows Script may be installed by default under XP, or included with later versions of Internet Explorer, but AFAIK has always been a separate install under Windows 98. You can download and install the interpreter so you can run vbs files, but you should have your husband check Internet Explorer's security settings afterwards, since there are security exploits with the default settings in earlier versions (which I think MS has since mostly addressed). Manually making the changes from the vbs file would probably be easier, though.

See here; Microsoft Windows Script Downloads

Did you install the game to the default folder?
If your husband has not already fixed this, there is an easier method in this case which would avoid having to install the interpreter to use only once. A registry file can add or change the registry entries that the patch needs to find the install path. The vbs file would be easier and more user friendly if you had Windows Script installed.

Beyond Divinity registry file - right click and select 'Save Target As'. This file contains the following registry key;

Quote
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\LarianStudios]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\LarianStudios\BeyondDivinity]
"InstallDir"="C:\\Program Files\\Larian Studios\\Beyond Divinity"
"Lang"="English"
"Version"="1.1"

If you installed the game to the default location, then you can right click on the registry file and select 'Merge' (this is also the default action if you double click it). If you installed the game to a different location, say 'd:\games\Beyond Divinity' for example, you will need to open the file in a text editor, such as Notepad, and edit the 'InstallDir' value. You can right click on the file and select 'Edit'. Note the use of double slashes. With the install location just mentioned, the line would be edited to read;
"InstallDir"="D:\\games\\Beyond Divinity"
Yep, Raze's solution should work too (if the game language is English and if StewsHunBun downloaded the right patch).

I created a VBS (instead of .REG) so that people could select their own language and installfolder.
