Yo, calm down. Have you thought that maybe the team is looking into your problem? And considering that there is only about an hour between your posts, you seem to be an impatient person. Give them some time. They get lots of problems to solve, some of which take months to solve.

Let me first get a few other bits of information from you...

We will need to know the following to see where the error originates:

Operating system:
Memory:
CPU:
Graphics Card:

Did you run DXDIAG (click start, run, and type in Dxdiag). and did you do all the tests in there, and did any give an error?

What anti-virus do you have installed?
Do you have other system-security software installed?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Check if there are files called debug.lst or error.txt In the Beyond Divinity folder.

Are you shutting down all non-essential programs (especially anti-virus) before starting the game?

Did you install the latest service pack / critical updates, video drivers, etc?

Try deleting the files in the dynamic folders;
'..\Beyond Divinity\Acts\Act1\Dynamic', '..\Beyond Divinity\Acts\Act2\Dynamic', etc.
These folders are used as a cache for the game. Files are created / copied there from the save game folder when you load, and written / copied to those folders when you save a game. The files will be re-created as required the next time you start Beyond Divinity. If there was a corrupt file in those folders, deleting the files should fix the problem.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

P.S.
Please wait 24 hours before you get upset because of no response... most people dont live on this forum... however we do check the forum regularly, and offer appropriate support when needed.

What version (language / region) of the game do you have?

Did you try starting the game before you installed the patch?

Can you run the configuration program, choose a resolution and run the test?

Are you shutting down all non-essential programs (especially anti-virus) before trying to start the game, and did you do so before installing?

[color:"orange"]Bad Version : instead of AgentClassesV1.0 16-03-2004

That sounds like a corrupt file in one of the default save files (I would guess in one of the '..\Beyond Divinity\savegames\Bd_act#_start' folders).

The North American / UK English patch file is named 'BeyondDivinityEnglishPatch1.47.exe' and should be 27,164,074 bytes, with a CRC-32 value of 2631160C. A corrupt download would most likely have resulted in an error when you tried to install the patch, but it couldn't hurt to check. There is a program described below to calculate CRC-32 values. Alternately, you can download this file (8KB) and extract it into the same folder as the patch; this zip includes a checksum file and the program DVDSig (homepage), which you just need to run and click on Verify.

Try a clean re-install of the game (if you haven't already), or there is a file verification procedure you can try to identify missing or corrupt files (see below).

To do a clean re-install;
Ordinarily you would want to zip or otherwise backup your saved games folder to another location first, just in case, but that isn't necessary since you have not got the game going yet. Each save is a separate subfolder in the '..\Beyond Divinity\savegames' folder; the 5 'bd_act#_start' folders are created/updated by the game/patch, and do not need to be backed up.
Un-install the game, re-boot, in Windows Explorer browse to the 'Beyond Divinity' folder and make sure there are no files or folders remaining, except within the 'savegames' folder (though the 5 'bd_act#_start' folders should be gone). After that, shut down all non essential programs (especially anti-virus), re-install the game, re-boot and shut down all non essential programs again. At this point you may be able to start the game and see if any problems persist. However, if you saved games in the patched version, they will not be playable in the unpatched game version. After that you can (optionally) reboot and shut down all non-essential programs before re-installing the patch.

~~~
The install program should report any problems, such as CRC errors, during install. However, if it fails to do so, or a file becomes corrupt after installation, the integrity of the files can still be verified using a program such as FileCheck; download (194KB). This is a small freeware program (no install required) to calculate the CRC-32 values (the cyclic redundancy check used in zip files) of a number of files. It can also compare a previously calculated CRC file with a set of files/folders.
After doing a clean install of BD and rebooting, I deleted the files in the '..\Beyond Divinity\DirectX9' folder (since they are not needed if/once DirectX 9 is installed). Then I used FileCheck to create a crc file of the game folders, installed the 1.45 patch and did so again, both before starting the game (I repeated this procedure with the 1.47 patch). If you compare the appropriate CRC file to your install, it should tell you if there are any corrupt files. You do not need to worry about moving any saved games out of the savegames folder or deleting the files in the dynamic folders, since new files will not be tested by FileCheck, just those listed in the crc file. If you have started the game and changed any options, there will be differences reported in the config.div and keylist.txt files. In my install the '..\Beyond Divinity\Editor\dgen_themes.000' file was also reported to be different.
There are several files in the Beyond Divinity folder created when the game is started or options are changed, including init.cfg, mapids.000, persist.dat, sinfo.000, slashed-d3d6.cfg, slashed.cfg, sound.cfg and starlog.txt. A couple other files are also added, but another crc file including these wouldn't help much, since most or all are system or option dependent, so these files would usually be reported as different regardless of being valid or corrupt.
At least the config.div, slashed.cfg and slashed-d3d6.cfg files in the Beyond Divinity folder can be deleted, and the configuration program / game will recreate them the next time it is started.
Beyond Divinity CRC files (285 KB)
[*] These crc files are based on the UK English version; the North American version should be the same, I think, but the Australian version will have differences (it uses a different copy protection).
[*] FileCheck expects the files to be in the original locations to verify, so if you installed BD to a location other than the default (C:\Program Files\Larian Studios\Beyond Divinity), open the CRC file in Wordpad (for example), and do a search-and-replace so the file/folder paths match your install.
If your CRC values match, it is not the game itself, but likely a conflict with something else in your system or a problem in the saved game folder. When examining the list of 'errors' FileCheck produces, potential problem files would be those with an error trying to read, or with a large size difference (especially zero byte files) from the known good install.
This is my error Log, I've tried running it before patch, and after patch,
Directx 9 Is installed and running fine. I've never had graphical problems with games.
So I don't suspect its a Directx problem or anything.
I've tried 3 clean instalations, And trying it before and after the patch, But I get the same results. If you need any computer information I can help you.
[color:"orange"]So I don't suspect its a Directx problem or anything.
It sounds like a problem with the game itself (the AgentsV term appears in one of the data files in the saved game folders). This may be due to a conflict with some background program during installation or when trying to start the game, or possibly with the CDs themselves (not likely, but there could have been a problem with a batch of CDs that could make a portion of data less readable by some optical drives).
You could try installing the game from a different optical drive, if available, or copying the files off both CDs to the same folder on your hard drive, and install the game from there.
Can you try the file verification procedure described above? I can simplify that a little (using DVDSig, also mentioned above) if required, but that would have to wait until I'm not otherwise using my computer, and can do a clean reinstall of the game.
I really liked this game, But I haven't found it in the store near me. So I decided to torrent it because I liked the demo. So I think the torrent is the problem, I'm just scarred i'll get it when I buy the game. But it could be entirely the torrents fault. I'm not shure. I used the No-Cd crack. But I couldn't try the Cd mini image, because I had no activation key.
Posted By: Raze Re: Can't Play - 04/11/06 11:40 AM
BD is still available at various online stores (Amazon, eBay, etc).
FWIW, this is the only topic in the forum where this particular problem is mentioned, so a corrupt torrent file seems the most likely cause (a problem while encoding or when sharing the file between servers would effect all subsequent downloads).
I'm not familiar with the no-CD crack, but AFAIK it doesn't cause any problems (none have been mentioned in the forum, anyway).
hmmmmm still torrenting... BUT....
Since i have a currntly functional (though dormant) BD installation on my machine.... i though... lets give this no-cd patch a go...
read the instructions with it...
Quote
* Install the game - Full Installation.
* Apply the official Beyond Divinity v1.47 Patch.
* Replace the original DIV.EXE & PROTECT.DLL files with the ones from the File Archive.
* Play the Game!
Do that exactly....
and what do i get????? the SAME error!!!
what people dont read.... is that the no cd patch is only for the polish localisation... (thats if it even works on that)
the other method they advise on: gamejackal....
so far... no joy either... the dearest copy protection does not get fooled by it...
Damn, The image might work if you try it. I just don't have an activation key like I said.
Just look for the Beyond Divinity mini image. Then download Daemon tools. Mount the image. and Start up the game (not with the no-cd crack .exe of course)
I was going to help though with this problem, I would hate for someone to have it if they where to buy the game. That always pisses me off.
No need. i own 2 original copies. This problem is only related to the no-cd crack, which is not supported by larian at all. So there is no reason to asume people who bought the game (through legal channels - original) will ever experience it. and if they do, larian will provide them with a solution (not on win 64 and other non supported OS's though).
The first time this specific problem occured is after the no-cd crack got released. and presumably both times by people using the no-cd crack.
So, problem solved?
Posted By: Lady_Rain Re: Can't Play - 07/11/06 04:41 AM
Well depends from person to person...
those who want to play the "cracked" game, will say no.... but according to what Larian supports on the game... yea... problem solved <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
