Interested in trying out Divinity 2: Ego Draconis?

Interested in trying out Divinity 2: Ego Draconis? - 07/08/08 10:30 AM

http://www.larian.com/playtest.php

I live about 2 hours of driving away form Kortrijk...
I might consider rethinking my opinion on not playing beta-games
Is anyone else planning to do this?

I'm wondering: do we have to be 18+ to test? It only takes me a 10 minute trip to get Oudenaarde, but I'm still a minor \:\(

When you come over to playtest, don't forget to bring cookies for the whole Larian team.

And if you want to get really popular with us, bring a double portion for Lynn

Almost 9 hours to drive by car to Oudenaarde ... a little bit to much. 7 hours are ok \:D Or could I play it a whole weekend than are 9 hours nothing!

Re: Interested in trying out Divinity 2: Ego Draco - 08/08/08 09:39 PM

I'd have to drive about 4 hours, I think, but I would be too exhausted afterwards (I'm a little bit too sensitive for such long journeys), and I couldn't afford the gasoline.

err, Larian Studios is in Belgium
that's on another continent for you, so i don't think a train would be enough
more like a plane to Belgium, and THEN a train to Oudenaarde ...

if you do that, i'll buy you breakfast, lunch and dinner! \:D
(and throw in some cake ;))

Re: Interested in trying out Divinity 2: Ego Draco - 11/08/08 07:59 AM

Venezuela does seem a little far but neither rain nor wind could keep me away
so do what you got to do
oudenaarde is only a 2 hour drive for me so im there(if they let me).

No, but I could hear the cries of all the tormented souls. I even heard a rumour that Kyrill uses all these cries and such, and uses them as samples for his music for these games.
But hey, what would I know.

Yep all these tormented souls are the people who were the beta testers of Beyond Divinity, a few years ago, in 2004.

Don't go there. This place is a trap.

Re: Interested in trying out Divinity 2: Ego Draco - 21/08/08 03:09 PM

The play testing is being done at Larian studios, in Oudenaarde Belgium. If you are going to be in the area, see here for details. AFAIK there is not going to be an open beta.

Re: Interested in trying out Divinity 2: Ego Draco - 21/08/08 04:49 PM

not a beta test. but demo?
Div1 had a demo

and just so you know, i met divinity through a cd with div's demo..
and i also found out that, when you reach the end of the demo, with the dragon rider near aleroth, if you press esc, when it ends, the game continue! i did all the quests in rivertown. only the dark forest and that city to the north were blocked..
somthing i think i mentioned ages ago in div 1 forum..
Posted By: Freaker98

Re: Interested in trying out Divinity 2: Ego Draco - 21/08/08 06:23 PM

Yes i came in touch with Div1 by having a disc with demo's that contained Div1.
Without it i may have never known about Div \:\(

Re: Interested in trying out Divinity 2: Ego Draco - 22/08/08 05:53 AM

I'd expect there to be a demo; there was for DD and BD, anyway.

I downloaded the DD demo after seeing a reference to it on some site (on freeware games, IIRC), then had to wait a few months for the game to be finished and released.

This 80 year old who resides in the USA would certainly like to have an opportunity to play test Divinity 2.

Don't suppose there would be an chance to get into the Beta when you are ready to allow other then locals to play?

Best wishes for a sucessful game.

Re: Interested in trying out Divinity 2: Ego Draconis? - 04/10/08 09:49 PM

There was no open beta for Beyond Divinity, just in-house playtesting. I wouldn't expect that to change for ED (they have not mentioned anything about a beta, anyway).

Re: Interested in trying out Divinity 2: Ego Draconis? - 17/10/08 06:41 PM

If a closed beta is ever released (like "register here and we'll select some of you, send these guys a link where you can download the beta and you'll have to abide to a 'don't show this to other or you'll pay the consequences!" rule"), this Dragon Acolyte would me more than honoured if chosen *__*

Meh, if I lived anywhere between a thousand miles from Larian Studion, I would drive there with joy to to participate in the testings *__*

Actually, as a programmer, I prefer food that I can eat with one hand, leaving the other hand free to continue coding ;\)

Unfortunately, pita is not something I can eat with one hand without smearing it all over my keyboard. Pizza, on the other hand, if properly cut before eating, is perfect for the job.

Re: Interested in trying out Divinity 2: Ego Draco - 14/01/09 03:23 PM

Yesterday's pizza will be harder, thus will have less chance to fall on your keyboard, making it the ideal food for coding!

And of course, you have non-crumbling cookies... like.. say, for instance... Jaffa.. Cakes?

Yes that is true, But I find the the crust of pizza is a bit greasy. The bread of a pitta absorbs the grease and keeps your fingers clean. And you can eat a pitta with one hand. (a small one).

While I concede the point that pitta is the programmers choise when coding, it still is the programmers choise when compiling or reviewing code.

Doing a full rebuild of all the libraries and gamecode itself for just one target (i.e. debug, release, or shipping) takes somewhere around an hour to complete.

Normally, you'd think we don't do much full rebuilds, but you'd be surprised at how much is still tweaked and improved at the base levels. Add to that all the data that needs to be preprocessed for size and speed improvements, and you can imagine how we love to honor that little comic sometimes ;\)

By the way, if it weren't for those rebuilds and data preprocessings, you wouldn't get much updates from Lar, I think. So I guess it's all for the Greater Good \:D
