So i'm in the Wastelands now, and after i left, i realized, the majority of my stuff is in my home in Verdistis (Dragon and Silver armour, about 750k etc, holy weapons etc...) Will I be able to go back and get it after i'm done with the Black Ring in the Wastelands?

When you are done with the Black Ring the game will be over. If you still have a save before hitting the gong to start the blessing ceremony, you can reload that, pick up loot and finish any remaining quests before continuing (though you would have to redo some stuff).

There is no way in the game itself to return to Rivellon from the wastelands, but you can hex teleport back to pick up stuff (not sure if you will be able to complete any previous quests, though).

The technique in the following topic may also work (ie replace the data file, reload the game, pick up stuff, save, restore the original file, and reload that new save).

Sounds like cheating in a sense...and i don't have a save before i did the ceremony -.-

If you don't have a save from before the wastelands, 'cheating' is the only way you will be able to get the stuff you left behind. The one exception is the teleporter stones; they get replaced anyway if you bring them with you, and if left behind you can find a set of ancient pyramids near the beginning of the wastelands (screenshot, 71KB).

If you do not want to try getting back to Rivellon, there is an exploit which will at least let you replace the gold or potions left behind (works with anything stackable).
Spoiler : Drag a stack out of (or into) your inventory (or container) and hold down the control key before dropping. This will bring up the split stack pane; type in a negative number and hit enter (the checkmark will be greyed out). This can also be done in the trade window. (highlight the text to read)

Don't think of it as cheating, but more like retroactively correcting a game design flaw, where you were not adequately warned about the one way nature of the trip to the wastelands.

well....i guess when i beat the game, i'll have no need for money, but since my dragon and silver armour, as well as the holy weapons aren't stackable, i can't get them back?

Without returning to Rivellon, there is no way to retrieve your dragon or silver armour. If you have not completed the holy item quest (sacrificing two to gain one usable item), then they would not do you any good in the wastelands anyway. If you were going to go for the holy sword, there is a sword of the gods in a house which is potentially more powerful.

There is a way to replace quest items, or charms / statuettes (anything without random stats), but if done with equipment, the stats will morph.

I recently found the sword of gods (my dagger is better) i'm pretty much set to do the black ring i guess...from what i understand though, when i'm done with the black ring, i can't continue gameplay?
Posted By: Raze Re: Wastelands - 07/02/08 12:09 AM
That is correct. When you defeat the main bad guy, there is a cutscene video and then the credits roll; you can not continue playing after that with the same character.

Well... that rather defeats the purpose of the game i think. I'll have nothing to do... what other Larian games would you suggest after DD?
Posted By: Raze Re: Wastelands - 07/02/08 08:23 AM
After DD, Beyond Divinity would be the obvious choice.

AFAIK the only other PC game Larian has released is the RTS game L.E.D. Wars. It is about 10 years old, but can still be found on eBay. See my first post in this topic; the auction mentioned there has closed, but someone has a new boxed version listed here, for $20+shipping. The budget rerelease version should show up again eventually for under $10.

Well... i haven't heard good things about Beyond Divinity, if the ending is even similiar, i'm not going to bother with it, i have nothing to show when i beat the game...

There are after-game battlefields in Beyond Divinity, so you can keep playing with your hero and summoning dolls. The battlefields are optional areas (different each act) with several merchants and randomly generated dungeons, which you can visit from the main game.
If you want to go back and visit previous locations from the main game or have NPCs all congratulate you on your heroic deeds, etc that is not possible. Otherwise, try the demo and decide for yourself. There are several topics comparing DD and BD.

Ook... thanks. I must say though, you were a great help through DD, thanks lots!!
