Posted By: pts Still no Steambeta to GOG -> suggestion@larian - 01/07/14 10:39 PM
Greetings,

i played the steam beta, but selected GOG for the final game. Since Larian choose to automatically upgrade all steam beta keys to final steam keys, i now have a steam key with the option to change it to a gog key, but that option is still not aviable on larianvault...

So, my suggestion is this: give all KS beta backers that are in this lockup the option for a GOG key NOW, and deactivate the steam key later when it becomes possible. Surely, a day or two of backers getting both steam and GOG won't hurt sales. And its very frustrating to be locked out of a game i backed from the beginning due to a last minute decision to forcefully upgrade my steam key despite my GOG selection.
They could do this very easily, but they won't.
I do believe that this is a GOG issue and not a Larian issue.
Nah, it's a Larian issue. As Raze mentioned in another topic:

Unfortunately, that meant the Vault website had to be updated to support that. I think Larian was hoping to get that done today, but it is getting a little late in Belgium...

Edit: also, look on the bright side, people - by the time we get our GOG keys, game will be patched and stable! No crashes etc \o/
I'm not quite sure why they don't just allow backers to get the game on both platforms. They paid for the game; it would still be validated with the same email address. The likelihood of folks who have it on one platform buying it again to have it on the other platform is probably pretty slim, so I don't think they would be losing money by doing this. And it would appease the frustrated folks that are waiting for their GOG keys.
Wanted to play with my spouse, but I made the mistake to try it briefly on Steam, so now all we can do is wait. Yeah, we can wait, but it was supposed to be the release day, so it was a bit sad to discover this.

Hopefully it will be fixed soon now.
Hey dont worry. I have mine on Steam and still cant get past a 10 min session without it crashing so you arent missing anything party

sad
Heh, it is kind* of you trying to comfort us with your suffering. hahaha

* Or, er, something. horsey

Yeah, it'll be here when it's here, just got eager to play when they posted that KS update. silence
Honestly, I just want to hear from anyone at Larian. Radio silence isn't doing them any favours and people are voicing their dissatisfaction in greater numbers with passage of time. A simple: "We're on it, no worries," now and then could go a long way to calm down the masses.

Hell, I *know* Larian is working on getting us the keys AND fixing the bugs at the same time, it only makes sense that they'd be doing that. But even with all the rationalization on my part I'd feel a lot better hearing from Larian again. When it comes to being emotionally invested in a big project like this one, rationale sometimes doesn't cut it, apparently... smile

Again, I don't mind the wait and I understand they have a mountain of work to do and a really small team to do it with. I'm not writing this because I would be angry, I'm not yelling in caps lock that I DEMANDZ VIDYAGAEM NAO HURR DURR or anything like that. I'm simply worried, because Larian Studios seem to be shooting themselves in the foot with this lack of communication and I'm not sure they see it that way. A lot less people might be pissed off, if we only heard from someone smile
There's been some complications but they are being sorted out. We really hope that we can get the Steam to GOG key transformation out of the door today. Players who didn't use their Steam key can already play via GOG.
See, I can't explain why this is so, but just reading the above text makes me feel good and calm. Well, not calm, I'm still excited for the game after all... :P Thanks for the reply!
Yes, thank you for the reply, it helps. Still eager to play indeed! wave

Only Windows players who speak english can play at the moment...
Mac users have to wait a few days. Translations files are not available yet.
Thought I would post this here, taken from the Kickstarter comments:

But the save games that you make with your Steam version are compatible with the GOG version, so once we're done (which I hope is today), you'll be able to make transition smoothly. We prioritised the people who didn't use their Steam key as we figured that if people were already playing on Steam, it wouldn't be that much of a problem to wait a few more days.

This is good to hear. I know some of us were afraid that if we started playing the official Steam release by using the code provided on the Larian vault, we might get completely locked in and be unable to redeem our GOG key later. This gives us the green light to continue playing on Steam as we did in the alpha/beta and still change it to GOG when available.
"Players who didn't use their Steam key can already play via GOG."
How exactly though? What's the magic formula here that I'm missing???

He meant Kickstarter backers, specifically. Kickstarter backers that chose GOG for their digital distribution and never played the alpha/beta release, have been able to download and play the GOG version.
I backed the Kickstarter for the 95$ tier. Now what...?
You have to log in to your LarianVault account, then follow the indications to redeem your GOG code.
Real time update: my profile just got updated and I have a new message; "This Steam key can be destroyed". Let's see where we go from here, finally... laugh

Can you please keep us updated? Nothing has changed in my Larian Vault so far. frown

Edit: Now I also got the message

"Divinity: Original Sin Digital
Delivered (STEAM)
Key: XXXX
This Steam key can be destroyed."

So now we need to learn how to destroy it.
I reckon it's a waiting game now until everything's sorted. But I still got game code to write myself and kids to take off the wife so she can rest. So I'm hoping all this will be sorted by tonight and I can play this game (was going to last night and ended up starting Divine Divinity instead, I always cringe a bit at hearing the male Rogue's starting text). Good luck to all!

I took a few days off to play D:OS quietly and happily all day long from release day on. This was to be something special for me.
So I'm sitting here waiting.

Indeed. Hmm...

I think I have the crafting recipe here somewhere... *digs through the pack* think

Thanks for replying, helps my peace of mind. And of course, i also look forward to play the game in full! Otherwise waiting patiently would be a lot easier... wink

Also just noticed the *steamkey can be destroyed* on larianvault -> seems we cannot do anything yet, but that probably means the most important database update is complete (selecting all eligible users, hope they had still had a beta tag and didn't have to do it by hand).
Still nothing changed in my profile:

Divinity: Original Sin Digital
Delivered (STEAM)
Key: xxxx-xxxx-xxxx
This Steam key cannot be destroyed.

And I never ask for that key, wasn't use it and not gave it to anyone else...
To paraphrase a man much better than I;
"I have a link!"

And that link says:
"I know Larian cannot undo this and I want to destroy this key.."

I can press it and it goes nowhere (404) but at least it's a link! and it's mine!

(I think E3 was the last time I enjoyed seeing a link so much - here's looking at you Nintendo).
Yup, gets me a "The requested URL /ks_destroykeyconfirm.php was not found on this server."

opa
Same here.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

In short: It doesn't work.

EDIT: IT WORKS NOW! The keys are there! YAY!
Means they're working on it. Relax and wait a bit longer. I'm pretty sure there'll be an announcement, once the system is ready.
Should work now. Will only work on Steam keys that were created before the release of the game, i.e. Alpha and Beta keys.
WOOHOO! Downloading now! Thank you, Larian Team! thankyou cheer
Yay! Larian Vault page updated, Steam key destroyed, downloading from GOG now. Thanks to the folks at Larian for all the hard work. Looks like I know what my wife and I will be doing tonight. smile

So GOG key is available ? Nice !

But can someone tell me which version it is (1.0.47 ?) and if the French translation is currently included in GOG version please ?

...or, if not, does someone has an estimation of the time I'll have to wait before French version release on GOG ?

Thanks in advance guys wink
Hehe. Because afterwards, we'll be playing our D:OS duo pack!

I'll let you know after it's downloaded. Though I suspect it has not been updated.

But what about my situation: I never have used any keys, but when on release day I have logged in profile at Larian Vault and discovered that Divinity: Original Sin Digital shows Steam instead of GOG, while I was absolutely sure that previously I had selected GOG (and checked that several times) and when
I wanted to change it - but after clicking on it (button with arrow, similar to change input button for Kickstarter Dragon Forum Badge) steam-key was generated and now it says Delivered and "This Steam key cannot be destroyed.". I am not using Steam at all and really don't want it. As I said I never ask for steam-key, wasn't use it and not gave it to anyone else.

How to solve this problem?
Huzzah! D:OS tonight!

@Mindtraveller
Man, I feel you, I hope you get this fixed! I would say best bet is to try and get support's attention (either emails or PMs).

GOG is currently 1.0.37. I have no idea if this means it's included or not though.

I looked up your email address on the forum and matched it to your KS profile on the Vault and fixed that. Let me know if it works.

I activated the Steam key for the Early Access, but had chosen GOG for my final copy. I've been checking my Larian Vault KS backer page every day, and I still have the red banner telling me to check back later if I want to change my Steam key into a GOG key.

I still have that too, despite having created a GOG key after deleting my Steam one.

Have you got any link under there? A small text one, along the lines of "delete this key, it's undoable" or some such?

[Linked Image]
- click on the link that is red underline @Raze post.
- then confirm that you know what you do (kill steam key forever and getting a gog key).
It's there now and the banner has been changed telling me that I can now change my key. I don't know if that link was there before, I never bothered to scroll down because a giant red banner at the top of the page said to try back later. I even checked it right before I made my previous reply and it still had the message to come back later.
Yeah, it confused me too, but I read that people had that little line there so I checked too. Hope it everything works for you now. wave

Is there any way to get GoG key without revoking the Steam key? First of all, I kinda value my good account standing on Steam and usually after 2 or 3 revoked keys they issue ban for key usage and there is no appeal. Second, I'd like to keep my steam copy. And third, since I have Divinity Anthology and DK on GoG I'd love to add DOS as well.

Many Thanks, it works now! I was able to destroy steam-key, select GOG and successfully redeemed new key. Thank You again.

Thanks SniperHF. I think I'll wait until someone/something confirms me french version is available wink
1.0.47 patch out today on GOG.
1.0.47 online now! French version available. wink
Hi there !

French guy here, looking for the 1.0.47 and french version on Gog. You just said it was available on gog, but i can't find it. Could you help me with it, please ?
This feature is available only for backers. If you backed it, you may see the french and patched version on your GOG account page.
Yes, i'm a backer, and the option doesn't appear :-(
I'm in discussion with a guy from the gog support since yesterday for downloading trouble etc, and so far, we haven't be helped much...
Maybe they didn't activate our backer credits :-/

Thanks for your answer smile
By the way i'm french too, and i'm a backer as you are. ^^
Everything is ok for me, except the fact i'm waiting for the translation of the Mac version.

Available on my account page :
DIVINITY: ORIGINAL SIN - GAME
Purchased on Jul 1, 2014
GOG.com Downloader mode
Faster, more convenient downloads! Install now
My game: Windows Mac
Preferred installer version:
Original game: Divinity: Original Sin - game
Windows installer, French 6.3 GB 2.0.0
Update (game version 1.0.47) 66 MB 2.1.0
DLC: Divinity: Original Sin - Source Hunter

So, i'm afraid the issue concerns your proper account... frown
Have you send GOG an email?
Yes. Three mails, in fact smile

Yesterday, the links for downloading the game were saying "error 404, nothing found". 1st mail sent, after testing lots of stuff. They answered me to do the same thing i already did.
Today, i tried again to download the game with the same links "error 403 - Forbidden"
2nd and 3rd mail sent. I'm now waiting for an answer that should come only tomorrow, cause they are located in Europe, and they have to sleep while i lurk on forums to find a solution :p

What kind of offer did you take when you backed ? We took the duo pack, with 2 codes, potion, Musics (which don't appear in downloadable bonus, btw), and i think that's it. I'm wondering if that's a problem of offer, or just bad luck.
I'd say it's probably more bad luck...

I took the $95.00 reward. A digital copy, i chosed the GOG one. A collector's box including a printed manual, the soundtrack, an artbook and a cloth map of the game world. Potion, engraving tool, message in the woods, Zandalor's Epic Trunks Of Intelligence as little goodies. ^^

bump or something
I'd like to know the answer to the above before I revoke my key. I don't want to be penalized because I want a GOG key.
I gave a beta key from my Kickstarter pledge to someone, but never intended for that person to have the full version of the game.
Since Larian's default policy of key expirement changed into beta access == full game, I used the Larian Vault to destroy that key and get a gog key instead.

Now I got Divnity Original Sin on gog, and the Steam key has dissapeared from Larian vault, but my friend there claims he can still play Divinity with the key that was supposed to be unvalid. It may be that the key is not made unvalid at all, or perhaps that it will only be so once he tries to reinstall the game.
Could take time if they do it in a bath. May be they will gather a few at some point and just revoke them all at once.

There's a disturbing mental image, lol.
The key withdrawal will not impact your status on Steam.

We cannot give 2 keys to single game backers or 4 keys to duo backers. I'm sure you understand.

The "destroyed" Steam keys may work for a while still because we cannot immediately ask for them to be revoked.

Then you clearly not really familiar with steam and its robot-like Support.

Either way I guess I've got my answer.
