For the very gods, plz, add that option in game!
Yes please!

It's hard to keep things orderly and simple to click at a glance with all the stuff being put on the bars automatically.

If you want to do it really well, let us specify what action bar numbers are allowed to auto populate with what kind of item.
YES PLEASE. I WANT SPACE BETWEEN MY DIFF SCHOOL SKILLS, NOT AUTO HOTKEY STUFF!! (screaming a lot)
There's been a mod for that I've been using since day 1.

I agree that it's super annoying though, and probably shouldn't be in the base game.

I saw that mod BUT the mod remove the achievments from the steam smirk
A non-mod solution is to use your bottom quickbar (use F and R keys to cycle through them) so that it'll take a long time before anything starts cluttering up the bar you play with.
I can confirm that installing the current mod from nexusmods does not prevent you from acquiring steam achievements. You will get a warning at the main menu about possibly corrupt game files, but its benign. The mod works great with the current build and you still can get achievements :)
Agreed Get rid of it we spend so much time fixing our hot bars then Larian screws them up again.

I do this, and it is better, but some skills I want to be automatically added to the bar (example: the fly button), but that is not possible with this solution.
It would extremely nice if this could be added as an in-game option, without requiring mods.
Either giving the option to lock hotbars to certain things (Skills, Scrolls, Potions aso.) or to just simply not add it automatically.
Especially skills that add no skills, such as flight, suddenly don't show on the hotbar because of some random items I picked up or transferred between characters.

This is truly one of the few things that has been driving me mad in this game.
