first of all what name are the best charms, is it Yin-something right?
and where can i find them before going to the wastelands... i really like some charms for all my items

The best you can buy before the wastelands are the large/silver charms, though you can find a few very large/gold charms as well. If you don't need to use any charms before you get to the wastelands, don't. Gold charms can be bought then (50k), and also get dropped.

well where are those few i can find before the wastelands?

Killing the Talking Tree (2 charms, one silver, one gold IIRC) = random?
the mage at Ars Magicana sells them sometimes
Killing the Elite Orcs in the East area brought me silver, too = random

hmm. how do you kill the talking tree?? it just keeps calling me a brute when i draw my weapon and click on him.

To kill the talking tree, you need Buad's Tee.
Have a look at this screenshot of Kiya to look for the location of the tee (nr. 5 on the shot)

You are probably past this point, but there are two quests involving the tree (branch and flower); after that it is expendable.

Flower?
Don't recall ever getting a quest involving a flower from the Talking Tree. What was it about?

Alchemist/Dark Forest wants a special plant = XP + 1 skill lvl in alchemy.

koo, used the poison on the talking tree, gave me 1 gold and 1 white.

Oh. I did get it then. I remember the level in Alchemy. I remember wishing I hadn't just used a skill point to take it to 4th level because I don't think 5th level is all that exciting, so I could have used the point elsewhere and still had 4 levels in Alchemy.
