You know when your amour needs reparing - the area where it is gets dark. Well,
I have this shield, (charm quality 5, +10 resistance to spirit) but it is "dark", even if it says "durability 10/11". If I remove it from my equipment list, my list of Statistics does not change in Resistance to spirit. I have tried to repair - no change, I have tried to equip my self with another shield, but the shield area stays dark. So basicly I think I am shieldless
Is it a bug, or is there posibility that my other equipment somehow does it? ( I have Slasher - and using it - it is not so that it kind of curses something ???)
I am a mage, and I really like chamed weapons - makes things easier, when you are not that strong.
I hope one of you can help me out.

I could be wrong, but i thought that Slasher was a twohanded axe.

is a bit odd when it comes to one-handed/two-handed weapons. Unlike most RPGs with a similar type of interface, if you equip a two-handed weapon it doesn't remove the shield from your second hand, it just greys out the shield and makes it unusable.

I believe Isorun is correct that Slasher is always two-handed. In fact, I don't remember there being even a SINGLE one-handed axe in . I could be wrong, of course.

Pretty much, if you want to use a shield, you'll have to find a new weapon that only takes up one hand. (Only easy way I know of to check if a weapon takes one hand or two to wield is to equip it and see if your shield greys out)

You guys were right - and apparently all my swords are twohanded as well - it worked when I tried a maze. (I feel a bit stupied my only exuse is that I am a girl and have never been into weapons : )
But do you know of a good one-hand sword with frost? I haven´t come across that many weapons with frost actually, and from other posts is sounds like there are quite a few. If - where are they to be found/bought?

There are a few one-handed axes in Divine Divinity, yet not as many as two-handed ones.

All weapon(and item) stats are generated randomly when you mouse over an item(or press alt), so should you find a new weapon you can save before you look at it stats, and try reloading a couple of times, you never know what you're gonna get. Don't spend too much time loading and reloading though, you'll come across better weapons and equipment eventually.

I came over a post about the Wastelands, http://www.kiya1.de/images/Div_Wastsword.jpg.html
Where sword of Gods is mentioned, actually a one hand sword, frost 5.
I did find the holy sword (still need the last 2 items for that quest) but you are not supposed to use it - the way I understood it .. Or at least not until the quest done ...

The Sword of the Gods is one handed, but the stats vary. I tried a sword with Frost briefly, but it made fights too easy, so I then avoided that bonus (only noticed it one or two other times).

If you quick save before running your mouse over an item/chest/merchant or hitting the alt key, you can identify the item or trade with the merchant, then quick load to get different stats or inventory. This can be done repeatedly to get the best stats or specific bonuses on an item (save after finding good candidates) or looking for specific items (such as spell books or charms) from merchants. Don't waste too much time with this, though, it really isn't necessary to get the best possible equipment.

When you collect all 3 holy items and complete the quest, you will have a choice of which item to keep in a usable form. Though the name then changes to Nobleman's Sword (or dagger / amulet) it is still often referred to as the holy sword.

With the Sword of the Gods available relatively soon after entering the wastelands, you may want to consider picking the holy amulet, unless you already have fairly good amulet. I used the reload method at the holy item quest to check out a few amulets and swords. I went with the sword because switching to a one handed weapon allowed me to use the dragon shield (with its extra bonuses), though I was tempted to go for one of the amulet versions.

I went for the sword too of the holy items, but if I equip myself with it is a two handsword (at least my shield is not useable together with it) Do that variate?
Anyway I am soon to go to the wastelands so I will get a onehand sword soon
