There is currently a serious security risk associated with it.

There's a patch for it on Windows Update now.

WARNING:

If you know stress,
If you hate stress,
If you despise stress,
If you wouldn't wish stress to your worst enemies,
Save developers from stress,

DO NOT USE INTERNET EXPLORER

browsers that are developer friendly:
- Latest Safari (mac)
- Opera 10
- Google Chrome 2

(yes, Firefox is not on that list)

Safari should stay on MAC, just like IE only works properly on PC

I don't use IE either - too many security risks.

I'm using Opera now. :p

By the way, why isnt Firefox on that list of "recomended" browsers?

because probably it's a top title like internet explorer and they've had time to make spyware that bypasses its internal security. Chrome is new, it'll be off that list in half a year.

Opera makes the list because it's not important enough to write software for.

Eh, I use Firefox, have used it on my PC for two years, and I never had an anti-virus or a Firewall other than the standard Vista thingy.

I downloaded AVG Free yesterday and scanned for everything, had no infected files at all.

Anti-virii and Firewalls are mostly for important people, risktakers and idiots. If you're not important, and you're smart enough to stay away from dangerous sites, nothing's gonna happen.

Same here. ALways used firefox with no problems. I do use zone alarm firewall and AVG free but those are mainly just on auto-update and i dont even notice them at all.

About chrome i was under the assumption that chrome was using the same base code as firefox, guess i was wrong.

AVG is in the middle class of virus scanners.

how is it in the list of "free virus scanners"? 'cause I'm definitely not paying money on that.

There is indeed a freeware version of it.
