I just hate it when I enchant an item (say armor) with a really good charm then about 5 minutes later find a better suit of armor with a charm slot. Or worse, fill up a 3 slot amulet then find an awesome 5 slot amulet. I find myself holding off on enchanting items because of this. It would be great if one could remove the charms from the lesser item and use them in the better item! Whatch'yall think?

My big gripe is that charming items don't raise the value of the charmed item. I can live with not being able to swap 'em around, but having the item charmed still be worth crap is miderately annoying.

don't worry you will find more charms or you can buy them, but the value of a charmed item would be hard to do as each item would not be charmed the same way.
But, yes it does s@#k.

Good idea, Xena. Maybe at the highest level of enchanting you could remove and rearrange charms.

I agree that it's annoying to put a $3000 charm into an item and have its value just vanish. It wouldn't be that hard to have a formula that would raise the value of the item by maybe 40% of the value of the charm.

I'm hesitant to put good charms into items because I'm scared I'll find a better item. Plus I'm throwing money away because the value of the charm disappears.

Ah well. All this shows we care about the game!

Charms were always meant to be a bonus, not a vital part of the adventure. There are so many charms available that you can afford to lose a few along the way.

Removable charms would make it too easy. Now it belongs to your tacticts which items you char. I usually charm medium armors etc with every charm I can find and as soon as I get a good piece I wait for at least large charms

There is always hope

If you put five Very Large Strength charms on a weapon, or 5 Very Large Constitution charms on a suit of armour, you've already got a massive advantage over anyone else of your level. I don't have the Charm Weapon skill, so I don't know how much of a bonus charms add. Think of it in character levels. If Very Large Charms give you a +8 bonus to a stat, you could essentially rise 8 character levels by using 5 of them.

And I think that the omission of the Horadric Cube makes charms more interesting and risky to use. No longer do people hold onto every single charm in hopes of one day producing a Mega charm. A charm is worth what it is worth, and they pop up often enough to recharm new weapons and armour that come along. You seem to find (by any means, including trade) about one per level.

But what if there would be a probabilty of removing charms (e.g. 1st lvl 1 charm and 1% removing charm). I think that shouldn't be so easy.

That'd be good. And removing a charm destroys the charm slot in the item you removed it from, becuase you forcifully broke the charm bindings.

my point of removing a charm is that you can put another one into that slot, a better one

then you would have a problem with a broken charm slot..
I personally think the game would be too easy when you are able to switch the charms.
You wouldn't need as much of them since you can always use the same ones to put in your better items.

You tend to find better charms when you find better weapons anyway. Small charms for small weapons, big charms for big weapons.
