Now I do have a 120GB HD, but what in the HECK is with the size of these save game files?

Almost half a gig for 18 saves.

41 saves and 1.43 GB for me! Thanks for pointing that out Buliwyf...I'll have to go back and delete some old saves to keep it from getting out of hand.

I generally keep 3 or less per character. Then when I'm done I zip them and archive them. With a 40 gig hard drive and a million games installed it's neccessary. 40+ saves? Wow.

Didn't realize they took up that much space or I would definitely have fewer saves. Normally, I don't feel the need to overwrite old saves except for cases like this where the file size is enormous.

I was wondering about the size. It seemed like my hard drive was filling up all quick.

hmmm... seems I'll need to clean some things up on my machine, but there are a few games I can uninstall so I'm pretty safe

some people like to save a lot. The point is the game should not be requiring THAT big of a save file

One of the things that I like about BD that I've only seen implemented in other games (like Dungeon Siege) in later versions or after patches is the multiple-quick save system. That's five of your save games right there. I have a 160 GB HDD, so I'm not concerned about space, though.

They tried to add compression, but as you remember the first DD version, saving was extremely slow.

There is a lot to save and they add lots of redundant stuff, to make sure you can keep your saves if a new patch gets released.

I'de rather have a 20megs save than 5 megs and half an hour to save a game

I think I'll need a new hard drive , then. Still

DD had big savegame files too, about 20 MB per save.

as i've only just started BD, my answer will pertain to DD and be personal - though i suspect they (the answers) remain constant: in writng the archer guide (okay, my archer thoughts! ), i really needed to be able to easily re-create instances in the game. hopefully without having to play it all through again!
it was also these numerous saves that allowed me to try the 'naked, weaponless' boxing of josie.
i know that once i actually start BD, i'll once again be utilizing numerous saves so as to get back to particular points easily.
my guess is this holds for others too.
