This might just be my personal opinion, but I really wish the elves in DOS2 were actually pretty and had a more classic look; instead of creepy giraffe necks and bodies that resemble cartoony aliens and look as if they are about to break...

I recently finished the two Pillars of Eternity games, and the only thing I really liked about them was the classic, pretty elf design (think Aloth <3). (In all other aspects, the Divinity games are incomparably better and in a completely different league...)

The elves looked normal in the first game, so I really don't understand the need for this change. It was NOT an improvement...

I really wish there was a mod that changes the appearance of elves to something more human-like, like in the first game. I've seen a number of threads on this subject on Steam and Reddit, I am not sure if there were any here.

The flesh-eating is also a really gross addition to the lore.

I really hope you won't be going with this in future games...

It's certainly controversial, and I have mixed feelings. Part of me would like the "pretty elves" sort of thing but I also like the idea of them being slightly too alien for us, which is in some ways the whole point. I'm also reminded of the controversy over the redesign of the elves in Dragon Age between Oranges and II where they went from looking like skinny humans with pointy ears to oddly-proportioned, long-necked creatures. I wasn't entirely sure what to think but got used to it quickly enough and appreciated that they were now more distinct. Did Larian go too far with doing the same thing? Dunno, it's subjective, I suppose.

The corpse-eating stuff isn't new either and e.g. the bosmer in Elder Scrolls do the same. I assume there's also more history to it than that; so yeah, it's gross, but more dispassionately it's also an interesting take on things.

J'aime le fromage.

I think the elves are great just the way they are. What says lich more than the skeleton (undead, not picking on how skinny they are) of an elf purposefully eating the flesh of others. It's fantastic!!!
To be honest, I was just happy not to hear cheesy heavy Scottish accents coming out the mouths of Dwarves.

I can't understand why a classical elf would be wanted. I mean, do we want short, magical beings causing pranks? We already have imps for that. Elf is the Germanic/Norse version of the French fairy, the Irish leprechaun, and the dwarf (what elves were called later on in the Germanic world). If they are to be a different species in the game created by a specific god, they have to have their own look and, being children of the woodlands, thin and muscular fits quite well. I just can't see the purpose of and elf basically being a human with malformed ears.

Yes, divinity series definitely should change elfish appearance. Maybe make them more like in netflix's "The Witcher".

Hello,

Well, if you like to have in all games / movies / books the Tolkien elves, sure you are right...

I prefer originality, and I never saw elves like that, pretty much a big fan of that.

Yeah they are ugly. Tolkien wanted them pretty, because it was a symbol of purity. Elves in Divinity aren't pure, they are like every other species (and in fact in Tolkien lore too, but it's in the Lord of the ring books and specificaly in The Silmarillion where you can discover their dark side, even if it's rare).

I don't mind if they eat flesh and use "scary" skills are sacrifice, au contraire!

This game is gross, dot. That's why I like it.

You remind me a guy who sended a mod to remove the pentacle from necromancer skills (I still don't get it, really). Why use necromancer if you are shocked by this small detail ? It's litteraly the art of making coming back DEAD PEOPLES and you are under shock if you see something badly and remotly linked to "satanism" (which is not, really, it's not).

I love Tolkien but I'm sick of this, in every movie/games/books (or almost):

Elves hates dwarf and dwarf hates elves, boring.

Elves in the forest (D: OS 2 does that I know) and dwarf in the mountain, boring.

Orc are bad guy, almost always, boring.

Etc.

Divinity is a bloody game, without mercy.

Keep going Larian smile.

@Soccer: So... Human with pointed ears. This is so original... Just kidding it's boring.

Elves this way are just an excuse to not drop too much money in costume, and because everyone think elves will looks like this... It's laziness².

At least here Larian tried something new, something we probably never saw before, creature between humanoid and trees (a little bit like Ent but with way more flesh and closer to us), with some specifical power I never saw in any other story.
