You don't end up exactly on the position you were when you entered the battle field.
There is a slight but noticable move to the top of the screen.
It was interesting though to see myself phase through a wall. I was standing to close to it and when I got back I got back on the otherside of the wall.

It worked out well for me in the prison area of act 2 - I couldn't find the key to let out the Imp Chieftain's son, but when I returned from the BFs, my hero was in his cage, triggering his "Thanks for letting me out" dialogue. The imp then ran around in circles, since he couldn't path his way to the exit, and after about a minute, he just disappeared. Guess the game gave up. Since my hero was trapped, the deathknight walked to the exit, teleporting both of them outside.

I wonder if this could be abused to get at the unreachable goodies in the Act 1 armory?

I was planning to test that out tonight when I get home. It should be possible but you'd need to be very careful to prevent both your hero and the deathknight from ending up on the 'wrong' side of the bar since you need one of the two to run to an exit to get bot chars out again

I'd imagine the same trick works in reverse - pop into the battlefields and pop out, hoping that one character is out of the "stuck" area.

If the characters are separated, and one enters the battlefields, are they reunited when you leave?

Hmm. Abusing that could either make some puzzles in the game easier or completely undoable I haven't done it yet but I think a good attempt should be possible at the steal box from imp quest dungeon.

Once you have the teleporter pyramids, this becomes really easy -- drop one where you'd like to return, then, if you get stuck, use your other one (but don't drop and use it), and voila, you're back in action.

While waiting for the next patch, I think I'll do some experimenting

I saw similar happenings in when using the pyramids. Be careful, though. Some exits will not work unless both characters are near. I walked into a null zone in the battlefields, got stuck (obviously), and couldn't get out because the DK couldn't activate the exit
