I'm with the rest of these guys. I though Horizons was a movie or something.

I did a quick search. It's another fantasy MMOPRG. I haven't played one yet, and I don't think I could be bothered. I never got into on-line gaming. Don't have the time. The graphics look nice though.

hehe.. aww dear did i break into your world of ONLY DIVINE DIVINITY..?

lol.

Horizons is an Online only game. Similar to Everquest, Asherons Call or Dark Age of Camelot.

You create a character and then over a period of several months or even years with manys fights and quests, build him or her upto a hero of epic proportions.

Its usually seen as a group social based game ideal. So if you prefer single player games or dont get online alot ie have 56k pay per minute or something it wouldnt be a good idea. But, and i sincerely mean this, BUT, if you like playing DD then you'll love playing Horizons or any of the others. To give you an idea.. i've just played Horizons for 84 hours continuous. Before collapsing into bed because they brought the server down for a patch. Other than Civilization, Diablo 1 and 2, Ufo and DD no game has had me like this. Not even AC or EQ or Daoc.

As it really puts you into the world of rpg.

Horizons is currently still in beta3 and i am one of the few open beta testers privilaged to test it. I cant show screenshots or give much info on the game, as i am bound by a Non Disclosure Agreement not to do so.

The game has i think to date the best economy system and manufacture system available. Looks gorgeous and plays well. Combat and Quests are actually fun. Theres still alot of work to be done on background and group combat and theres some very serious bugs which need to be fixed, but overall i think this game will steal alot of ex Ultima Online, Everquest, Asherons Call and Daoc players.

I'd suggest it to anyone with some free time and who are bored of playing on their own.

Bernhard meant probably this, Rugster:
[color:"yellow"]Chat -> General RPG chat, click here, please [/color]

This link is for other games that want to be discussed. It saves Lynn the trouble of moving threads to where they belong.

This forum is tolerant when it comes to other games - we just try to keep the discipline and place topics into the appropriate parts the Larians have provided.

Horizons is none other than the follow up of "Demise: Rise of the Ku'tan" (a.k.a. "Mordor II: Darkness Awakening") which was in turn the follow up of the good old "Mordor: The Depths of Dejenol", that maybe more of you know.

You can read all about it in: http://www.the-underdogs.org/company.php?name=Artifact+Entertainment

I'm in beta as well and just like everyone else under NDA. Let me just say that my opinion is about the opposite of Rugster's <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> .

I can definitely vouch that "Horizons" is nothing like what it was supposed to be, if anyone is actually interested.

Artifact Entertainment was basically hostily taken over from the inside. The people who did it apparently reasoned that they could do better than the actual creator of the game, David Allen. David Allen has gone on to start a new company called Pharoah Productions and is currently looking for funding on a new game.

And, if I might add, since the thread did mention the game "Demise", there is a group of players who were basically hired by David Allen to create the next in the series of Demise, alisas Demise 2. Needless to say, support has been very high for the group, even though they are going to be a while before the game does finally come out. Currently, a fully patched version of Demise is in the works, along with a few new bonuses possibly. Then they will work on the actual Demise 2.

For those who are interested, the link to the Pharaoh Productions forum for these game, and other questions follows.

Demise is a direct ripoff of a PLATO network game developed in the late '70's called avatar. The names of things are really the only thing changed. This said i have put the game on my Christmas list and will be setting up a server. The PLATO network is now a commercial education company called Novanet. They still host the old games on non-prime time. 10pm-6am mon-fri and all day sat and sun. Those times are US central (-5 or -6 GMT). You can get the software yo connect at: Welcome to Avatar .

I was going to reccommend that lovers of RPG's try the game avatar in a post but this is a good spot to plug both Avatar and Demise. Most people play Avatar'84. I run a party of chars most often a thief named Wally Llama. If you try it and I am in the game, p-message me and I will help you out.

The game is mostly played by old guys like me but my son plays sometimes and he likes it ok. There is no player killing and people help each other with the quests and with rescues when the monsters win.
