It seems alot of people are putting too much thought into the name, including myself as alot of my posts have different names.
I guess most people simply wanted to call the first game Divinity, which is great because now we have the Divinity Universe. I agree with almondblight that Divine Divinity is much more memorable. Obviously someone thought it had an extra ring to it, so that's what they went with. Personally I feel that it does push the name forward a bit more and has a shine to it. I am a fan and while liking the game very much I am also happy with the name. I'm sure I would have been equally as happy with Divinity.
It seems with all the feedback and trying to make people happy, that they're wanting to get rid of the Divine part. I think it is something they could work with and use later down the road if they choose. Why not, at least the option will always be there.
Back to thinking too much, I now think Beyond Divinity is fine.
Seriously, if you are looking at all the games to come as a series there is nothing wrong with the names. First there is Divine Divinity, then there was Beyond Divinity and now we all wait for Divinity II. It's perfectly fine and the more I see it, the more I like it.
What do people want, King's Quest, King's Quest 2, King's Quest 3, King's Quest 4 and so on. I already like the variety in the Divinity's Universe with names and it adds to the series. Beyond Divnity is great and give them a chance to drop the Divine part if that's what people wish. I guess most people will be happy when the third game comes out and it is simply called Divinity II.
Anyways, I just want to give some positive feedback and let Larian know that I am a happy fan along your bumpy road.
Also it does seem that they will be changing Riftrunner. I just happen to be at GameSpot and they now have Beyond Divinity listed.
