You will have to find out yourself. I've played it a while ago and have to play the demo they just released, but I doubt they took this out. Killing Fergus should be the second quest you encounter. Like in Divinity, this game has more to offer then it shows at a first glance. And like in Divinity, you have to take your time in order not to miss anything.

I already beat the demo...
**SPOILER**
Before you get to the pit... there are numerous locked doors... any way to get into those rooms?
And the hardest thing in the demo was the jailer with the axe (forgot his name off the top of my head) ... took a few reloads to get it just right. Otherwise it was fun... and I only got to use my two-handed sword once...

I also completed the demo but I was in every single room which is accessable.
Spoiler: . . . . .
You can open the doors with keys from the guards or simply use the levers on the walls. But there are some pretty hard level 5 ghosts behind those doors. So make sure your knight gets first the two handed sword at the end of the demo.

You get more experience for letting Plox (the imp) go.
The torture master is Fergus, in the room east of the talking skull.
The digging ghost is in the west central cell where you start, if you read the letter and check the wall...

Just for general info, to get the quest from Edmond, (spoiler) [color:"#3A495A"]you need to tell him he is dead, either in the first speech option, or later after asking him if he thinks he can escape[/color] (highlight the text to read).

i wish/ iwanted to take some close combat shots of the DK with furgess for my desktop.
BTW Larian, I like it that it taskes a little bit to attack, and you see the DK getting his sword out of the sheath, very nice quality and detail! i love seeing that sort of thing in a game. not just automatically getting the sword out and attacking. and sometimes after a big hit i see him sort of stagger and wait to hit.

Is it possible to take screenshots from the demo? And that thursty dude won't take a bottle of water... Screenshots => I used PSP8, not possible with CTRL+F11. Water => only one bottle works. The one in the kitchen, watch your quest diary turning red if you pick it up.. Don't forget "The Torture Master's Slave" although that may only appear if you kill the imp. Correct, but I don't kill needlessly if I can get more XP - as Raze said

well, I reloaded an older savegame, one I took in that kitchen, then took that specific bottle, went up, and WALKED THROUGH that locked door. The guy drunk, died, but me and deathknightbuddy are BOTH stuck in his cell. I'm unable to escape.
Could you be a bit more specific on how you took that screenie?

For screenshots, there is a 'Capture' folder in the demo, but no hotkey listed in the options, so this doesn't seem to be implemented yet. The Print Screen button works, if you only need one screenshot at a time, or can alt-tab out to paste into a graphics program and save. There are various screen capture programs, including; PNGShot - 353KB download, single file, no install, open source Saves as PNG, and has a very flexible and configurable naming scheme; you can specify a base name combined with a counter and/or (all or part of) the date and/or time, in a format you specify. There is a 2 second freeze in the demo when saving screenshots, but that is not necessarily a bad thing; at least you know you got the shot. I ran the program through UPX to drop the files size from 688KB to 294KB. Grabby - 100KB download, no install required, freeware Good performance, with only a half second hesitation in BD. However; - the counter re-sets whenever the program is re-started, so you would have to move the screenshots each session if you did not want them to be overwritten - it stores its options in the win.ini file. It is only 8 lines, but it is not a good thing to do. Hardcopy - 1.7MB download for install, 1.8MB for optional add-ons, donationware very good performance. fairly powerful, though complex, program. Available in Danish, German, English, French, Dutch, ...

I have a dozen saves. But I think this needs to be looked at by the devs. I didn't make a big effort into surpassing that door ( walking in ), I just did.
I do like the demo.
Oh, and that trap in that door [ opens with the 4+1 levers ] didn't show up, just like when the guy sitting next to me was beta-testing it.

Did you click inside the room or on the door? Were you holding the mouse button down, so the characters would follow the mouse direction? I went through there several times, just checking again recently to see if the water bottle was the only thing you needed, and didn't run into this.
About the door opened by levers, did you try just the 4 levers? The trap should show up then.

I clicked that door probably a few times, then I wanted to move along, but I couldn't, and the deathknight just followed my char. My char went in first, and the deathknight then followed through that door, like it wasn't even closed. I didn't TRY to walk through that door, that's for sure. I've been attempting to force myself through for the last 10 minutes, but that hasn't worked. Bleh. I'll see about the levers again in a minute.

I think Coes means you can not see the spikes in the trap very well (they are hidden behind the wall), as you can in some of the preview screenshots in open areas (found one, spikes in the top right and bottom right). game over

That was a trap set to kill you, not one you could set. In the room with the 5 levers, if you miss the one on the left wall, or pull it before the 4 on the north wall, the opened door will be trapped. Kiya's BD demo screenshot walkthrough/spoiler

Again, Raze, this skill to see traps (the door one) can only be seen if you have the "detect Traps" skill - and at this stage of the game... you don't have it. Or did I still misunderstand something?
If I didn't misunderstand => then it's logical IMO to walk blindly into that trap if the lever wasn't pulled. Though... I wish I could see if the skill would underline my theory or not - in any case, I liked the subtle hint on the paper ("rest was smudged either cherry jam or blood...) yes, thats what I was wondering Kiya, I didn 't think you could get the detect traps skill in this stage of the game. or maybe. hmm. maybe.

If you do not disable the trap before walking through the door, you die, and can barely see what it was that killed you. In my game over screenshot, that is about as good a view of the triggered trap that I could see.

I have reproduced this bug. If you move close to a locked door and for some reason your second character gets too close to the door he appears to be in the wall and if you click further he will go right through. I've only been able to get a single character through a locked door so far.

There is a locked door in the far east. Did anyone find a key to get in there? I've been to every other possible place in the demo but I can't seem to locate a key to get in this last room.

Yes you can just paste a screenshot into a graphics program, though the Windows clipboard only holds one item at a time. If you searched the forum for 'PNGShot', or went back a page or so in this topic, you should have found this.

Yeah the only room I have not accessed is in South East corner, I was thinking I could just bust it down the the steel bar, but had to use that for the wheel. But however if you get close to the door you can see the stairs that lead up to it. I'm sure the pit leads to it. Too bad the demo is so short =(

The one found just before the very end, in a hallway on a table. Just hold alt, and you should see it easier. Look for "iron bar". I haven't tried it, but I suppose it can be used to block the wheels of the gates for the spiders, to trap them inside.

Plus you get a key in one of the haystacks. A good RPG has several ways to deal with problems. That was a proof that BD is definitly a good RPG .

Well, this specific door is marked on the map ( not mini map, the big map ), so according to the Divinity lore, it should be quest related. Right?

I imagine it's like the door to the holding hells where you begin. You don't ever need to go through it, but you can open it from the other side to shortcut back into the prison. It's the "normal" exit from the prison. Also, it makes for an interesting quest: escaping via the less obvious route.
