Last night, I was happily playing along and had taken the Larian armor to Goeff to identify. Boy! Was I thrilled to see armor = 410!!

After that, I was off to the Dwarven Halls to have the heartgem forged into the Dragon armor. After I dropped it off with Grischa, I thought it might be a good time to save since I hadn't saved in a while.

During the save - the game CRASHED! Bummer!

So I picked up where I had previously left off, taking the Larian armor to Geoff la la la....but THIS time after he identified it - it was only 310 armor!!! What's up with that??

I reloaded twice and keep getting the same thing!

So what's the deal here? Is the armor rating a random thing? What do you guys have for the armor rating?

The properties are set when you pick the armour up, so if you want to re-load and try again it will have to be from before you opened the chest it was in (or hitting alt near / running your mouse over the chest). I got 410 for each of the silver and Larian armour, but had to re-load a few times to do so (using Identify, rather than geting a merchant to do it). This is what I got for each;

Silver Breastplate - before the easter egg upgrade

Durability 23
Charm Quality 2
Armour 410
10 Constitution
15 Resistance to Poison
Polymorph +1
life Leech +1

Armour Of Larian - after the easter egg upgrade

Durability 19
Armour 410
4 Agility
10 Defense
40 Vitality
20 Magic
10 Resistance to Fire
40 Resistance to Lightning
20 Resistance to Poison
3 Hearing
Lightning +1

uhm.... Raze - that can't be right. My silver armor only has armor of 210 right now, but it has always increased after the upgrade. The first time it increased to 410, but the last two times it increased to only 310.

However, from what you've said it sounds like if I keep reloading to the point where Swen upgrades it - that's the key.

Thanks!

Edited with update:
I am reloading at the point where I have killed the beetles, but haven't talked to Swen again. Armor stats after re-identifying:
410 (first time, then game crashed)
310
310
210
210
360

Do I keep the 360 or continue to painfully reload to get the 410. I think I must continue to reload since the first time I played this scene, it was a 410 armor.

MUST....SAVE.....MORE....OFTEN....

Stats are random, but are influenced by character level. The higher level you are, the better chance you have of getting something in the upper range of possibilities for that item. I did the Dark Forest north to south, so may have been at a higher level when I got the silver armour, making it easier to get a 410 armour class.

If you quick save after talking to Swen, you can quick load repeatedly to identify the Larian armour he put in your inventory. I don't think there is a huge difference between 360 and 410; depending on the other stats for the 360 armour, how long it takes the game to load on your computer and how often the maximum armour class comes up, it may or may not be worth it to keep re-loading.

I don't think character level affects it. I think it's totally random because I had to reload about 20 times to finally get back to the 410 armor and it was everywhere between 210 and 410.

hey Raze! After the Larian armor event, I went to the Dwarven Halls to have Grischa combine the heartgem with the Dragon Breastplate. The Breastplate was 390 (which I was considering using if I couldn't get the Larian back to 410) before Grischa worked on it, then 190 afterwards. I re-loaded several times, but always got 190. I also noticed that the original breastplate was still in Grischa's inventory so I bought it back along with the heartgem.

Is that just weird? Or am I being penalized for not doing something?

The old armour for sale is normal; you can also buy back the eye of the cyclops from the warrior's guild master after his first test. If you did not hit alt or move the fixed armour in your inventory after talking to Grischa but before saving, you should have been able to re-load and get different stats, though.

The dragon heart is required for the second warrior's guild test, so if you did this quest first the other would be broken if you could not buy it back. Also, as you found, the 'fixed' armour is not necessarily better. Ideally, the head of the warrior's guild would recognize that you have the heart forged into the armour, and the heart would add an effect/stats to the armour, rather than getting a completely new set.

I bought back the heartstone gem as well, although I don't know what I'll do with it now that I'm in the Wastelands.

I'm glad I bought back the original armor! It has 4 slots for charms and I'm picking up better quality charms in the Wastelands, so I'll probably be switching off to it soon (from the Larian). I just wish you could pull the old charms out! heh heh

Anyway, thanks again for your help!

I got this one for silver armor upgrade, is this good enough or shall I keep trying:

Armor of Larian
Charm Quality:5
Armor:310
8 Int
4 Con
40 Vitality
80 Magic
10 Resist Fire
10 Resist Lightning
10 Resist Poison
10 Resist Spirit
3 Sight

Any comment would be appreciated...

EDIT:
I also like to know if Dragonheart Gem and Eye of the Cyclops are for any good other than their connection with the Dragon Armor and Warrior's Guild Quests.
I ask this because you can buy them back after these quests. So should I buy them back or not?

Thanks

Charm quality and armour class are good - but no magical abilites - I'd try reloading. I'm a bit confused though: Is your armour before/after the upgrading?

My XP: After upgrading a lot has changed in my armour, so I've given up trying to get a good one before this procedure.

Gem and eye have no use after completing the warrior quests and getting the reward for this. Some gamers buy them back though for fun

This is the upgraded version. Do you mean + skill points with magical abilities?

Yep, I sometimes had 4 of them, but not in my last game.

Wasn't even a good one...

Ha, I knew threatening to torture my keyboard would help . But this isn't a good one either.

I finished the dragon armor quest and the enchanted dragon armor I got is really powerful. It has 4(!) magic abilities and some nice stats. I wish it had 5 charm slots instead of 4.

Oh well, I think I can live with that I also keep my Armor of Larian just in case.

Kiya, I need a good pair of leggins. What are the best stats that I can expect from leggins? I am in Wastelands.

You dont need to have the maps in your inventory to make it through the cobwebs...just to have seen them is enough....I only had 2 of the maps in my inventory but had seen them all before and I passed through no problems.

Yes, you can buy it by speech option - was it 5 gp/bottle? I had to buy it once. You need 5 bottles.

Hi all. I am stuck while doing the Silver armour quest. I got through till the treasure room and I have the details which is specified. 5 rimmer ale, 4 ropes (only from the telporter area) 2002 gold and the larian armour and ofcourse the telporter stone (the other is outside the cave). Now when I goto the telporter inside the cave it just keeps teleporting me outisde the cave (the teleporter I am talking about is the one in the cave not the the one I have in my kit). I have no idea why this is happening. Any clues anyone...

cheers!

Double check your inventory to make sure there is no extra gold/alcohol/rope hidden behind something else.
