On the above comment.

I would like a battle in phases. or to put in cliché

phase one: mano a mano
*end boss runs*
phase 2: go after the end boss (traps)
phase 3: o no the end boss transforms into something 10 times more powerfull

Alrik: I understand the frustration,i too spend my days trying out ideas for the better of gameplay, not to line my pockets in gold.....

Mostly its becuase of the greed of the people concerned ...they feel hard done by,or expect compensation and so the lawyers try to win it.

Therefore all people/companies have to be on their guard when accepting new ideas etc.

Morbo: yes not a bad idea...i suppose in we had Hermit in a way.... and the first meeting of Josephine.

I see. I'll send an official e-mail to Larian with my ideas (with disclaimer ! ) .

hi,

one more comment: Overall, I preferred the big world of Divine Divinity to the small worlds, one after the other, in Beyond Divinity. It was more fun to have quests and teleporters (which first had to be found and activated) where you had to return to old places to solve new quests and back again.
I also prefer to find partners on my own instead of being bonded to one right from the beginning. That's perhaps because I prefer to be the melee-fighter, and therefore I look for archers or mages as partners, not for other knights.
Overall: I definitely do not say that BD was a weak game, I just came to my conclusion that I liked DD better than BD. BD is a game I rank in the top quarter of my favorite games, but just behind DD.

In this discussion the talk is about Copyright and Fan Fiction. Very interesting to read (although my own point of view given there is rather extreme, imho.)

But far more interesting is this article, which is about the same thing - in the case of Marion Zimmer-Bradley and a fan. She had written a story which overlaps with a story written by that fan - seemingly she read it - but negotiations between both became fruitless. The publisher then decided not to print that book. And Marion Zimmer-Bradley forbid her fans to write FanFiction stories.

Now I can understand what Lynn meant with "legal reasons" she said when I sent her - in her role as an official representant of Larian studios - a bunch of deep ideas for the Universe.

This isn't funny anymore.

Sad times.

Alrik.

Al, i sympathize with Ms ZMB. so if i am to present ideas to Larian & wish to give it to them freely, how do i do this? how is a disclaimer like & do we need lawyers to have that written? any procedure?

I understand whgat's the problem there.

What nags me is rather the underlying principle : Greed for Gold, no matter by which side.

A greedy fan can also be distrurbing whole projects like a lawyer who's assuming the fan does anything without altruism, or an author, who just wants to sell but loses the contact to the fans (and the fact that there will *always* be fans and haters).

Yeah thats it....Larian actually can do two things....one they can ask for a discaliamer on the ideas they like or either draw from these ideas...there own ideas which they would not need the permission of the owner(i.e they use some of our ideas and some of theirs to produce a new different idea, this would avoid asking for disclaimers)...either way is fine by me...i dont mind if Larian draws inspiration from any ideas i have posted.

Sorry to go a bit off-topic...i have finished my version of 2 story but i have had little time this past week.
Yes i will do the disease teory as well soon enough.

Thanks for your patience.

I dont know if things have been said already or are not allowed, i havent been here for a long time and im too lazy to read all the posts

3 things i would really like to see in DD2

1. total freedom such as in DD

2. an online future would be great too.

3. a combat system i found in another game wich was really good and gives the player the freedom to make his own combat moves, move with the mouse and such moves will your character make, some moves dealing more damage to some enemys, others less, i guess this is really hard to make but it would be awasome in my opinion. I dont know if this would be bad with copyrights or something but well...

im out ppl

Who has played "revenant" ??? they had a very nice combat system... where you had special moves aswell, that you had to learn.... that may be a nice addition too, instead of just clicking on the monster

My suggestion is to announce DD2 for the PC, since we already seem some screenshots of some next-gen game that is making us drool...

My only suggestions are this:

1. Please make this game realizing what made Divine Divinity such a great game, and then give me more of it. Wonderful music, a huge, open-ended gameworld with an epic story and tons and tons of side quests, an excellent and highly underappreciated interface. The world of Rivellon was so huge yet highly detailed and well fleshed out. Give me another world like that, The good sequels are the ones that follow this rule. e.g. Gothic 2, Baldurs Gate 2, Icewind Dale 2, etc.

2. Interface, interface, interface. So many developers neglect it, but it's of paramount importance. had a great interface. Wasn't as good, and the game suffered for it. Give me a great interface plz. I want to use all of my "F" keys and all of my number keys. At least give me an interface as refined and useful as the one in Divine Divinity, and I'll be useful.

3. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep this game PC exclusive. Or, at the very least, worry about porting it to consoles after the PC version is totally finished. Do not dumb down or remove features from this game so that it can be played with a console controller. I don't think that developers on the PC have any clue how much they alienate their fans when they due this. It's like adding Jar Jar Binks to Star Wars. Please don't make another Deus Ex: Invisible War. I don't know if my spirit can take another one of those.

4. Make a great single player game first. Worry about a great MP game after that. The PC is drowning in MMORPG's right now. The good single player RPG's for the PC have disappeared. It's a shame. If you like story-driven single player RPG's, there has been almost nothing to choose from for the past two and a half years.

i played the game, and it's one of my favourite
it had some bugs in it, and got abit boring in the end
but it was georgeous for its time,
and yes you could play it with a gamePad.
now thats what i like to do combat with!

good point....
my suggestions....hmmm, i liked the interface for inventory, weapons, and items,
the skills face was a bit botched up tho, i still say the old skill system was better....

other than that....
make it a qualified continuation of and you've got my vote!

I suggest Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines, then -- released back in Nov. 2004.

And Morrowind was great, too.

I think Morrowind proved that a PC game can become a great console game. I think Riddick and SW:KOTOR proves a great console game can beocme a great PC game. And we've seen great games released to both PC & console systems at the same time, too, like Max Payne 2.

It's just this: the designers can't compromise or chop down their vision b/c they are bringing it to another system or to another audience. They need to go with their own vision, end of story.

Also, they need to do is find the strength of the system -- and use it to their advantage.

Arggghhhh i have written my background story for DD2(which is long)....and done my disease theory and done another tweak called personalisation and yet i still dont have the time to post them.

I wuold also like to say

Please no battlefeilds...they are just random kiling fields..i think they dilute the game...if you just like to kill...then play "the other game"

Also..resistances should be between 4 and 6..anything more than that and i dont tend to look for armour wth particular resistances because i cant find armour which will cover all aspects and therefore i dont bother with it anymore.
To re-cap what said...the 4 resistances in then mabe unique resstances like divine and choatic...which relate to good and evil and are forged by good/evil smiths....which i think aenique to any game.

Quick theory on resistances:

It's mesured in % (from 0 to 100), and the total value is the average of all your equipments resistance (shield not counted. A shield should instead have a chance to block, and that way reduce dmg).
