I figured out that I did the quest to find Marcus' stolen wares out of order. Here's how I did it:

1) Found the cart that needed a wheel near Dwarven Forest.
2) Went to Marcus who gave me another wheel.
3) Brought wheel, cart burned, found dead bodies.
4) Went into the assassin's cave, but didn't see or pick up the letter to Pedro.
5) Went to Tingalf and asked about where his goods came from.
6) Went into the sewers, found goods and letter to Victorio.
7) Gave letter to Marcus, told Guard about goods.
8) Found and picked up letter to Pedro in assassin's cave.
9) Gave letter to Marcus.

I know it's pretty messed up. Now the quest I have is "TO RIVERTOWN." It says something along the lines of, "The black market goods are flowing though Rivertown; Marcus will not be happy about hearing this." I gave Marcus both letters, but now he says nothing more and neither does Tingalf or Lieutenant Robin. Can I complete this quest since it's more of an intermediate one?

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum

Have you talked to Trevor, the merchant guild master in Verdistis ?
If not, visit him and then talk again to Lieutenant Robin.

I believe so; I had a dialogue option about Tingalf, and then something like, "I informed the guards in the Merchant's area." Lt. Robin's only dialogue option right now is "All you guards have the same attitude" and closes.

I'll try it, though. Thanks.

Do you have the quest : "Find the truth about Tingalf" in your quest log ?

I did a forum search and this topic is exactly my own problem.

I went to talk to the Merchant guild guy like someone mentioned here. That gives me the Tingalf quest and experience becuase I already completed it. But the "to Rivertown" quest is still unsolved, talking to the lieutenant, or Marcus does not do anything.

So, my question is whether anyone know a way to fix this. Also, how much experience points does the "to Rivertown" section of the quest give you?

I've already been to Kiya's description of the quest so I know it is broken. The question is how to make it better.

There is no easy/known way to fix the quest. Using a save with the quest broken and comparing it to one of my old saves at a similar spot, it may be possible to fix it by temporarily swapping a dialog file, or something. However, since this quest is rather long and different parts can be broken if things are done too much out of the expected order, a fix (if possible) for one person may not help another.

I'd have to check my old saves to see how much experience solving the To Rivertown quest gives.

Thanks for the answer. I acctually did some searching around the net and found that completing that section gave you 15000 and +1 to the identify skill. I went back to an old save of mine and found that was right. Then I found a savegame editor and gave my self the experience and the +1 to Identify, so I am satisfied with the situation now.

So far I've been impressed with the game. At the time it was released it was a choice between this and Arx Fatalis, I don't regret getting Arx then but it is a shame I had to delay playing DD so long
