http://www.garagetv.be/video-galeri...dium=9lives&utm_content=uploader

this video is a dutch interview, with The writer/director of the upcoming movie BenX, a movie about an slightly autistic young man and his life's troubles. The movie features Archlord (mmorpg) a lot.

But when the interviewer asks about why Archlord he states that he initially wanted to use Divine Divinity 2, but the game got delayed to much. (Due to the success of Ketnetkick etc...). He also says how good it looks. He did a theater production of the same book "BenX" where he uses Divine Divinity as game to act in.

So basicly, Divine Divinity 2 it is?, It's in the works and takes a huge amount of time, obviously it's not a money problem.

Hope you like this.

BTW, if the movie is released outside Belgium or The netherlands, go see it. All Belgians and Dutch ppl should too.

Thanks for the link! I just saw the interview too.
Too bad DD2 didn't make it into the film, it would have been great publicity for the game.

(But uhm so is DD2 a mmorpg ? Since it would be kinda hard to make that movie around a single player game)

EDIT: as said above, go see the movie it already won 3 awards on the montréal world film festival.
(Grand Prix des Amériques, Most Popular Film and Prize of the Ecumenical Jury)

Maybe the Larian team is working on 2 projects : a single player RPG and a MMORPG based in the Divinity universe.

About the name of the next game, i don't understand why everybody calls this game "Divine Divinity 2".
The Larian guys did not like the name "Divine Divinity", why would they use again this name for a new game ?

Because the guy in the interview said he wanted to use Divine Divinity 2 first, but settled for archlord. And in other sources it has been called DD2 too.
(I don't like the name either btw)

Yep but the guy in the interview is wrong.
When Lar talks about the game he says : our next RPG

[color:"orange"]Imagine that it's the ambition of our next RPG (don't you just hate that name ?) that it'll feature a lot more serious content (still brought with a touch of humor), touching upon topics not touched in RPG's before, forcing you to make choices which you might not necessary like.

I only believe one source : the Larian source.

To build on the name recognition and their already established fan base for the DD universe.

DD was a pretty solid success, IIRC, and failing to capitalise on that might cost them sales.

For a company that probably doesn't have a vast advertising budget, it makes sense to stick with a recognised brand.

Yep it makes sense. But i repeat it for the third time because you seem to have a problem for understanding.

It's not the company itself who use the name Divine Divinity but other people

Maybe the company will keep the word Divinity , like "Beyond Divinity" or "Divinity Universe" but not DIVINE + DIVINITY .

If you are familiar with that version, does it go into enough detail we could extract some game info from?

[color:"orange"]So basicly, Divine Divinity 2 it is?

The guy being interviewed had to cal it something, and even if the final name has been decided and he knew it, he would not be able to use it publicly before Larian announced it. With 'Divine Divinity 2', people would know what game he was referring to, or at least be able to look up DD to find out.

Larian has said there would be a multi-player component in the next gen game, though has not released any details. Unless the movie really gets into the MM part of the MMORPG game Archlord, any multi-player game with some form of server to allow people to meet and form parties, etc could fit into the plot.

Funnily enough, I tend to read quite well. And I am aware of where the name comes from.

Regardless of whether they hate the DD name or not, though (And yes, it is known that they do) it may make sense for them to keep it for commercial reasons anyway.

I'm not trying to say what they WILL do, of course, as I have no way of knowing - only something they might do.

I don't see any reason not to stand by my point...

Very good idea for next Larian game.
The very special Earthquaking boots.
