I know there are a lot of good swords in the game. I was wondering though what the highest potential damage for a dagger might be? I found a merciless dagger that does 45-67 damage. With back stabbing maxed which gives a 50% chance of double damage, the effective damage of this dagger would be 67-100 or around the same as some of the best one handed swords (I have seen posts showing sword of the Gods at 71-100 damage).

The other aspect of this is range of attack. I was wondering if the game takes into account the lenthe of the weapon. For example a warrior using whirl, you would think would hit monsters from further away using a two handed sword as opposed to a dagger.

By the way the dagger I found that does 45-67 was a long dagger with no other magic stats or bonuses. In an earlier game I tried getting the nobleman dagger and it only came out with 9-31 damage as it is not a long dagger. So even with some bonus stats that seems to week. Has anyone gotten higher damage from the nobelman dagger, the one from the holy item quest?

With the holy (nobleman's) dagger I got something like 21-54, with backstab plus all it's other attributes (tons of different damages, I can't even remember them all), it was easily doing over 100 damage per blow. When you're looking for something in a weapon, my advice is to get one with a lower durability, as a lot of durability greatly increases the total stat value of an item, leaving very little room for other stats. Mine had only 4 durability, and therefore had tons of level 5 attributes (frost damage, poison damage, charm quality, life drain, mana drain, plus some other ones I don't remember). <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

I never paid attention to the damage on daggers, but AFAIK even with Assassin's Kiss maxed, you can get better damage on a decent one handed sword. That implies the dagger you found should be near the upper range of damage.

I'm pretty sure the game does take weapon length into account. I used one handed short swords and a two handed bas.tard sword, and I never noticed any hits or misses that were inconsistent with the character animations.

I tried reloading a few times for both the nobleman's sword and amulet, but didn't try with the dagger.

I reloaded the nobelman's dagger and on my 8th try this is what I got. See pic. This is likely the highest damage possible on a unique dagger as it compares to the 71-100 range of the unique sword of Gods. The 47-63 range would be in effect 70-94 with the 50% bonus achieved from 5 points in assassin's kiss. The Sword of Gods would be slightly faster with the swordmaster skill but with the 5 charms and other mods I got it looks like I will be using a dagger. Some of my earlier trys inclued a 47-63 with 6 to speed, 1 charm slot and below avg mods. I even had a 7-23 damage version just before this one.

edit- the assassin's kiss is not actually a 50% bonus. It has a 50% bonus to do double damage which in practice works out to the same thing.

Good dagger, but one of my primary prerequisites for a weapon was frost damage, it's really useful! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Are you playing as a survivor, warrior or mage? Frost on a weapon makes things a bit too easy with a warrior swirl attack. If I need to freeze a monster I just use the freeze spell. Only has one point in it, but it lasts long enough.

If I could set my own mods I would give it dual leech (5). I have another charactor with a sword that has Mana drain (5) Life Leech (4). I know there is the restoration spell but I like life leech on weapons. Partly because this game has so many useful spells and only so many can get hotkeyed. I hot key curse, freeze, life leech, elemental strike (though I rarely use this and will be replaced with something else before long) Skeletal wall, resurrect, of course the swirl special attack. Then I have stamina potions and restorations hotkeyed. My f10 key is not working (Must be the keyboard) I'd like to hot key bless and a few others. Thats what is great about this game. Having access to all trees. With so many other games you have 3 or 4 obvious best spells and you end up with cookie cutter charactors.

It is not your keyboard; F10 can not be used as a hotkey, for some reason.
