Just a few tips. You can't go back to Rivertown once you move on to wastelands so pack everything you need with you.

tip-
You can bring more stuff if you wear items that add to your strength. As you already know the more str your charactor has the more it can carry. What I did is used some silver str charms in some 3rd rate equipment. These are charms I did not need for my top line equipment. But you ask won't the weight of the extra eqipment offset the gain from the str charms? No it wont, unless its 400 weight armor plate. The best items to use for this are light weight 4 or 5 charm slot items with no other mods, such as 4 charm light boots, light belts, I already had two 5 charm ammies so I used a 4 charm ammy to fill with str charms. Not sure if all classes get the same benefits but my warrior can lift 200 more pounds per every 10 str increase if I remember correctly. Its close to that anyway. Be sure to save before you do this to experiment.

What to bring-

All your top rate equipment of course, plus your 2nd rate equip and if you may have enough str for your 3rd rate equip, at least weapons.

Portable bed or 2 haystacks. There are fixed beds near where the store is and close to the front lines but thats it. The portable bed looks nicer than what you will have here and it has no weight.

Teleporter stones - Bring both, you can find a set here but why waste time looking for them.

Comforts of home- Any items you want to make your living space yours. Don't get carried away as weapons are more important.

Toothbrush- just kidding

Chest- There are no chests here though you can use a sack of grain or a barrel to store your items. A chest looks nicer but they weigh 400 so this is optional.

You can arrive overburdened. However, you have to walk a fair distance to get to a safe zone. If you just go east instead of your you will only have very light resistance and you can go invisible also not to have anything follow you.

A few Potions- Maybe 20 restoration and 20 stamina. You can buy potions right away and potions add to your weight so only bring so many. Don't bring super restorations or Super stamina as the regular ones will restore all your points already.

Charms and misc. items.

Before leaving, visit Verdistis and borrow money from Sir Patrick. Let him try to collect when you are in the wastelands. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin1.gif" alt="" />
Your quest log gets cleared entering the wastelands, so the loan entry will not be there long.

I used the weight bug to bring chests with me (save before attempting). I already had charms, backup equipment, equipment with handy skill bonuses for occasion use, spare potions, stacks of gold, etc organized into low weight chests (200). I simply opened the book from the thieves' guild while it was in my inventory, and drag and dropped all the chests into it. I was overburdened once in the wastelands, but simply dropped all the chests and one teleporter stone there, to come back for later.

weight bug and disappearing chests (broken links are fixed in a reply)

All classes get 20 weight capacity per strength point.

The last time through I made a bunch of Super Strength potions and drank them right before the ceremony; as I recall it took about seven of them to carry all my stuff (+140 str). Also don't bother scrounging all over the map for several hours / game days looking for large empty flasks (Kroxy's shop has tons of them).

That might even be a better way to go, as I find I pretty much never use the stuff I carry with me. I did keep putting on two items that gave me repair +1, then I figured that was silly when I had skill points to spare, it's not like they do me any good when the game is over smile It's probably unnecessary even to bring much gold with you.

Actually, you should bring all your gold because it's weightless and more importantly, you can use it to buy spellbooks and Very Large charms from the blacksmith there (you'll know when you meet him wink

Oh, I do bring all my gold, I'm just saying that with all the loot in the wastelands and in the final dungeon area, even buying all the charms that I want/need, I end up adding to my gold reserves rather than dip into them. But yeah, it weighs nothing, so might as well take it. Trying to make a bunch of extra gold before you go to the Wastelands probably isn't necessary though. I'd feel pretty comfortable going with the three piles I have now.

Before hitting the gong I had 6 gold charms, and 29 stacks of 50k gold. At the end of the game I had little gold and 66 gold charms.

I went with (I totally forgot how many) stacks of gold and about 5 gold charms, ended up
with 16 stacks of gold and about 70 gold charms. Of course I only used stat modifying charms with the exception of one of each resistance charm in my equipment. grin

My last time there I got there with 16 piles and one gold charm, ended with 19 piles and 8 or 9 charms. And honestly I am kind of itching to go there NOW with my three pile carrying lvl 29 char hehe. I still have a way to go to progress the main quest though, I've failed to meet Zandalor at Dwarven Bread, and that's about it.

You don't use charms? Oh well, I guess you don't need them to win, but it's fun ending the game with high stats (but not ridiculously high)! wink

No, I use 'em. Actually I just loaded up that save to check, and I underestimated quite a bit. I have 18 gold charms equipped and three left over.

Lol it was quite enough to finish the game with though smile

Something else I thought of. Once in the Rivertown Market area I got curious about very criminal activity, so I saved the game, stole something in front of a guard, then when they came to arrest me, I killed them all. I lost two reputation points, but what's funny is, after that all the guards in town were "angry" but did not attack me on sight. So I picked fights with all of them (including the Lt.), and then proceeded to take out all the shop keepers it would allow me to ( I don't think Blake gave you the option to fight him). The thing is, other than the initial loss of two reputation points, I didn't lose any more for any of the additional killings. So maybe before I ring the gong next time, I'll take out some choice NPCs. Just go nuts. It's not like you need your reputation in the wasteland anyway.

Raze mentioned borrowing the 10,000 gold; has anyone borrowed the gold then not paid it back, just to see how bad the assassins that come after you are? Now I'm curious.
