Anyone know of any good RPGs for the Wii, preferably not too recent (ie not CAN$60)? My brother got a Wii with airmile points that were about to expire, so a game might be a good Christmas present.

I'm currently going through some search results, but thought I'd ask here, as anyone seeing this has already demonstrated their excellent taste in RPGs. Anyway, Okami looks good (~$28 on eBay), and if I can find Dragon Quest Swords cheap I may get that, as well (though not as a present, since cheap pretty much means used, as far as I have been able to find).

Yoiu could also ask at RPGwatch, there are a few console enthusiats there, I think.

Other than that I cannot help you.

Actually, just checking reviews or availability I eliminated most of the games from a few 'best of' lists / topics. In addition to the 2 games I mentioned above I added Lego Star Wars, and am watching auctions for all 3 on eBay (Okami is cheapest on eBay ($25), the other 2 may or may not be, probably not, depending on how the auctions go).

Okami definitely is an amazing game, I'd say it's probably the best of the 3 you're looking at. I'd recommend Muramasa: The Demon Blade, but it's recent and probably still is expensive.

I looked at a couple reviews for Muramasa, but it seems a lot more action than RPG. That might suit my brother more, though, if he'll actually play a game longer than a few minutes. He first tried the Wii at a friend's house, and figures it is more fun as a group activity, especially when combined with beer. Lego Star Wars should have some appeal, at least...

You're not going to find a true RPG on Wii...but if you never played Twilight Princess it was a good game.

I looked at Twilight Princess, but I'm not paying more than $55 for a 3 year old game. Even used it isn't very cheap.

Not that anyone probably cares, but I got a good deal on Okami. With the eBay auctions for the other two games people keep bidding at or above retail price (at which point it is much easier to just buy retail).

Yes, those prices are almost reasonable...
Thanks. I used to check out half.com, but a couple times in a row looking for different games/DVDs I just got the same prices and sellers as eBay, so figured it wasn't worth it any more.

Necroing that post, if your brother doesn't have Okami yet, he should.
Awesome graphics, great story.
(the game made enough an impression on Zelda devs that you turn in a wolf in Twilight Princess because of Okami)

I did get Okami for him, and he started playing it Christmas day. I don't think he has touched his Wii since then. I've actually been thinking of borrowing the game to play it.

The new Zelda is out smile

Seems fun for now (less than an hour playing).
