I would like characters to automatically attack any "red" creatures close to them when they have attack mode on. This would make the attack mode more useful and true to it's name. As a melee player, I hate having to left-click or control-left-click on each enemy to get him to attack it. His a.i. when in attack mode should just be to attack the nearest enemy in range. Very simple. Please consider it and help spair our hands. Thanks.

Do you mean have a third state: Passive, Combat, and Auto-Combat? It might work. Although it would be a bit of an overkill for archers. Also, what constitutes which monsters are close enough to attack?

i dont think it will be a good idea.
your character will only attack the (could be) weaker meelee fighters that are attacking you, while the extra powerfull mages and magicians are killing u at long range..

A 3rd state might work, but I was thinking of just modifying the combat mode to have your character auto-target auto-attack. Basically use the sight of the character to determine if someone is close enough to attack or not in combination with responding to an attack from ranged enemy outside the character's sight. The A.I. would work similar to the Dreadknight summoned from the Demonic Aid skill.

Here are the benefits of auto retargeting and attacking of enemies:

1. Your character will never just stand there and get pummled to death.
2. Saves the player from constantly having to target a new enemy when the existing one dies. This saves the players hands and wrists. Not only that in an area where there are alot of items and containers around, your character won't be picking junk up or moving around all the while being a punching bag.
3. Allows you to focus on using spells and skills during a fight.
4. Less of a worry of being killed by a weaker creature when you need to be afk for a sec.

Of course you would still be able to manually target a certain enemy or run away if you want. Overall, I feel this would be a great change to the game and make it less grueling and more playable.

One more thing, with this feature, you will be more efficient in battle because you will be constantly fighting and not wasting a half second or more from having to retarget. This maximizes your damage output and lessens the overall damage you take because you'll be killing the enemy faster.

HandEFood:
This would be especially great for an archer because of his hit and run tactics. Imagine not having to target the enemy, just run and stop and your archer automatic fires at the enemy once they move in close enough.

jvb:
Sure melees will be target first since they will be closer, but you can still manually order your character to attack the caster if you really want him dead first. Not only that but if the caster attacks your character before he acquires a melee enemy as a target, he will go after the caster and not the melee. Think Dreadknight A.I. or any dumb Orc melee A.I.. Remember, auto-attacking is an added feature, but you can still always manually target enemies like you do now if you want. The added benefit then would be the extra wack or two you'll get in at the nearest enemy before your manual target kicks in. It only helps and does not break the game in anyway.

One concern comes to mind when playing a caster, you might not want him charging into the fray. The solution, don't put him in combat mode. He should still be able to cast spells and won't be auto-targeting and auto-attacking. I don't play a mage, but if casters can't currently cast (offensive) spells then they should be allowed to.

For me, it's best just to change the combat mode instead of making it a third mode. There's absolutely no need for the regular combat mode once you have the new combat mode because the only diffence between them is the auto-attacking or enemy (red) units. If there is any situation where you don't want to auto-attack enemy units, just change to passive mode. Trust me if it's added as a third mode, the regular combat mode will never be used (unless the player just wants to play tediously and inefficiently).

Can I get a response from the developers or their representives regarding this idea. Just curious to what they think.

but you have to think about it that some ppl wouldn't like auto attack.
So thats why 3 modes are better..

I agree. Perhaps have a switch in the Options menu: Always Auto-Attack Auto-Attack should not be mandatory.

Auto-Attack. Hehe... Smashing cars with clubs...
