Some of my favorite songs come from Michael Jackson. They include:

-Black or White
-The Way You Make Me Feel
-You Are Not Alone

I also like "Always" by Atlantic Starr and some of the divine divinity music track including "Old Rivertown", "Flags of Freedom", and "Perilous Path". Plus, I like the "Rocky" soundtrack and also "Eye of the Tiger"

ok, music....
i like something from everything, i think, except maybe pop-country and top 40.....
punk, especially dillinger four, murder city devils, me first and the gimmie gimmies, dropkick murphys, flogging molly...
old men like bob dylan and johnny cash...
old ska, desmond dekker, skatalites, toots and the maytals...
i've been getting into old soul and motown too, marvin gaye, al green, james brown, issac hayes, jimmy smith...

the pogues, the replacements, david bowie, mazzy star, portishead, air, the six parts seven, elliott smith, beatles, velvet underground, lou reed, iggy pop, atmosphere, beastie boys, at the drive-in...
i also have a thing for 80's hair metal, namely billy idol, guns n' roses, skid row, def leppard, ac/dc, van halen, motley crue, and such.

did i miss anything? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/delight.gif" alt="" />

Black Label Society-
Zakk Wylde knows how to play the axe man!
How about David Gilmore, if i ever wanted to play like anyone it would be him.....very versatile.
Now come to think of it...
the 2 albums that greatly influenced my sorrid upbringing <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" /> would be
Pink Floyd-Dark side of the moon
and Deep Purple-Machine Head.
Call me nuts but i still love both those albums!

When I hear someone say I like all kinds of music, I understand, "I have no interest in music" or "I'm to lazy to develop an own taste" luckely Faile said " except for top 40 " wich is mostly the worst music.

SO here I go:

I like metal: After Forever, Within Temptation, Satic-x, Fear Factory, Mudvayne, Slipknot, Opeth, Linkin Park (some songs), Creed, Metallica, Korn, Sepeltura, Ill nino, Disturbed, Drowning Pool (some songs), Soulfly, Rhapsody, Nightwish, Moonspell, Rammstein, ... and so on even Metallica

I like punk: Bad Religion, Samian, Venerea, Flatcat, Circle, Blink, Lagwagon, Bane, Raised Fist, OPM, AFI, Anti-Flag, Millencolin, Sator, A new Found Glory, Flogging Molly, As Friends Rust, Sum 41, Sick of it all, No use For A name, Satanic Surfers, Voodoo Glow Skulls (ska), ....

I Like HC: Adamantium, Caliban, Facedown, Arkangel, Killswitch Engage, The Huanted, Shai Hulud, Poison The Well, Regression, Congress, Morda, Dead Blue Sky, Morning Again, For The Love of, Chimeara, Liar, ...

Offcourse It's more than that, But this Is what I listen to, I also listen to the radio, but little chance I hear many of these bands on Belgian radio...

Right now i can't listen to anything but classical / mediaeval/ celtic music. I hate the radio - besides CBC, the music on the rest drives me bonkers. And i can't stand the DJ's and advertisments.
Classical is nice, puts my mind at ease, instead of driving me mad. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

i didn't say i like everything, i said i like something from everything. i don't take that to mean i don't have my own taste, i mean i have a wide variety of tastes. look at the bands i put down. i most definitely do not like everything.

and don't call sum 41 punk.

So you like something from everything? I don't like some genres, no matter what like techno and house etc, I do also believe that poeple should write their own lyrics, If you just have to sing the song someone else wrote...

You did say you disliked top40, that means you don't like everything like I said before.

It's not I only like those I summed, these are just those listen freaquently.

ok sum 41 is no punk, what is it? punkrock? i don't know, I won't label it specific genre.

I must admit it's hard to get to know bands here, cus all belgian radio is the same.
But still many poeple like "the music on the radio".

My experiance, I was In class with my laptop, I felt like playing 'Within Temptation - Gatekeeper' So I did in the break. Someone said "your music sucks" I didn't mind and played 'icequeen' again someone else said something like 'stop playing that crap'.

Well a month later I hear one of them playing Icequeen and the other one was singing along, I asked them hey did you get that from my laptop? 'cus, normally they shouldn't have taken it' I was kinda surprised they even knew it. the dude answered 'no I've heard it on TV, This is so good!' apparently TMF a music channel had promoted Whitin Temptation.

See where I'm getting at?

It's those poeple I dislike.

pick a genre, i'm sure i can think of a song i like. except as i said before, pop-country (faith hill, shania twain, garth brooks etc) top 50, and you might want to add most forms of techno to that.
i agree with you on the writing your own lyrics thing. unless you're doing a cover. covers are okay. unless you are sheryl crow covering 'sweet child o' mine'. then you should be shot. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/memad.gif" alt="" />

I like so much. I also hate a lot too as I (used to) listen to a LOT of music.
I guess its easier to go with genres despite how much I hate categorising music.

Dance: (BROAD terminology) Prodigy, Daft Punk, Propellorheads, Chemical brothers, PWEI, Carter USM, Sneaker pimps.
<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/offtopic.gif" alt="" />Despise modern dance, top 40 crap, garage music. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/offtopic.gif" alt="" />

Rock/metal: (too many) Metallica, Motorhead, Megadeath, Pantera, System of a down, Rob and White Zombie, Clawfinger, NIN, Linkin Park, Therapy, The Wildhearts, Curve, Garbage, etc. etc. etc.

Indie: Oasis, Stone Roses, Inspiral Carpets, Pulp, Mansun.

Punk: Kenickie (english group, first album), Sex pistols, Flogging molly and all the others that Faile suggested. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />

Rap: (SOME, mostly old skool) Run DMC, Public Enemy, Ice MF-T <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" /> and of couse the beasties, who seem to do it better than any black man alive. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />
<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/offtopic.gif" alt="" />I hate, loathe and detest any RnB and almost all the modern 'black music'. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/offtopic.gif" alt="" />

I'll probably stick some more in later. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

It's ok to like a lot of different songs and/or "genres".
It's even good. Having an open mind and being interested in different things is good for you (and ppl around you <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />).
You can like some songs without liking most in that genre.

The discussion reminded me a bit of when I was a young teenager. The yapping at school: "hehe, you like M.Jackson, what a creep you are. We like Metallica, they're cool."
Something like that. LoL
So imature.
I was mostly into hardrock, metal, punk, new wave, ... back then. But I didn't minded listening to other stuff.

Disliking a song becouse you're "not supposed to like the genre" is... (you can fill in the words yourself) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

These days it's hard to make a difference anyway. All got so commercial...
And it's not about music anymore, just about making money. To most bands/singers/record labels.
Songs with feeling or/and great instrumental play are very rare.
A simple beat with simplistic lines is all that matters these days.

Some of my all time favorites are:
Temple of doom (maxisingle version)
Vampires (by Radio Rama)
Emerson, Lake and Palmer
Horror movies (Bollock Brothers)
Country roads (hard-rock version by Man-X)
Naked in the rain (Blue Pearl)
...

I guess I may be slighty immature then. I personally believe anyone who respects the music of Michael Jackson should be shot. He's a sick little child-molesting POS who deserves neither the fame nor the money he has.

Sorry to rant, he just pisses me off. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/memad.gif" alt="" />

idd most music gets bland and boring to listen to.
Take the flemmish singers 90% is about love.. ok been there done that...
"black man music clips" OMG what a cheap showoff, just some ladies shaking their asses c'mon
Spear britney, I'ts al about the looks. the money, oh I have no money enough I think I'll do a movie for a while and earn even more.

This is why I like underground music the most. No specific Genre unless it's as bland as commercial music.
I have lot's of commercial music in my playlist "Linkin Park" altoh it's mostly popular because the make a lot of noise. remeber Limp Bizkit, Wow in the beginning yeah cool he rock but after a while, There he goes cursing again, been there done that.

Het was ne goeie avond en het was plezant

maar toen ik thuis kwam wie zag ik daar staan
wie was geduldig blijven wachten en was niet weggegaan
DEN AFWAS, DEN AFWAS!

here's that lyric translation:
"It was a good night and we had some fun
we did all the bars in the whole country

But who did I see when I came home
Who waited patiently and did not leave

THE DISHES, THE DISHES..."

sorry, but the rhiming is waaaaay better in dutch.

Hey Jolie, do you know this one:
"... t'is hier niet te doehoentjes......

moa 5 jaar later....

Godverdjeu godverdomme waar zit die stomme trut,
godverdju godvernonde ik trap er in eul ***"

Those are funny lyrics. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
My favorite - by Spirit of the West-
You'll have to excuse me, i'm not at my best
I've been gone for a month, i've been drunk since i left
These so called vavcations will soon be my death
I'm so sick from the drink, i need home for a rest

Basically about a guys trip through England "Kept a shine on the bar with the sleeves of our coats"
<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

i listen to anything besides rap, rap-rock, and bubblegum pop.

some industrial (suicide commando, velvet acid christ, apoptygma berzerk)
some dashboard confessional, all american rejects, alkaline trio.
whatever is playing on my local rock station.

i rarely like more than 3 songs from one band. an exception to that is neutral milk hotel.

Now that I have had a bit to drink... I'd thought I'd list the bands I DOUBT any of you have heard (or like) :P

In Slaughter Natives
Current 93
Devil Doll
(OLD) Delerium
(NEW)Gary Numan
(OLD) Coil
Archon Satani
The DD Soundtrack <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />

... I'd mention ABBA but that might give something away <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

That's a short list of some bands I really like <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

love hearing what you all like <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
