a few summers ago i worked on a prawn boat, and we used to catch octopus, and sea cucumber all the time..some pretty big ones too....... big i mean my arms outstretched, with tentacles in each hand trying to get the clamping cephalopod off me...stuck to my legs, arms, the side of the boat and railing...(what a sight) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />
and i had to learn how to kill and clean them for the market....it was NOT one of my more favorite jobs, and i won't go into details either......bloody yucky i'll say that! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />
my captain didn't like octopus because when they get into a prawn trap, they eat all the prawns and leave nothing but empty shells, boy they used to make him mad!
I just laugh at him.... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

Ofcourse they got in the traps. It's one of their favorits.
The traps must have looked like all you can eat restaurants and for free on top of that to them.

poor octopussies. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />

.... i never actually told the cappy...
that i wasn't gonna clean them any more,
just if any came up in the traps i made sure they made their silent escape,
by leaving the lid of the bucket open....that p#ssed him off even more....! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />
Ahhhh...the good old days!
Prawns for brekkie, lunch, and dinner.... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

There are kinds that turn themselves inside out to scare off enemies.
pretty neat trick. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" />

What Jurak mentioned is actually one of the biggest problems with fishing these days.
-Not only fishing, but it's a good example.

Humans want to capture/collect something/some kind of animal.
But they don't care how, and often the more they collect the better.
So in the proces they kill lots of other creatures or/and destroy their habitat.

I will only ever eat the tuna that hasn't had dolphins trapped with them. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />

did you hear what bush wants/wanted to do about dolphin-safe tuna laws?

"if there were no witnesses to a dolphin being harmed, then it's dolphin-safe!" <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ouch.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/memad.gif" alt="" />

Well...
Maybe we won't have to worry about fish anymore soon.
Most of the popular kinds for human consumption face extinction if humans keep on fishing them up in the amounts they do now.
Or take salmon fi.
The ones that are breed in nerceries (never understood why those factories are called nerceries) get so much chemicals that they are immune to the diseases they might get.
But they still carry the diseases sometimes. Some of those "tame" salmons escape and pass on the diseases to salmons in the wild. Those poor fish have no resistance and die in giant numbers.
It's the biggest reason why wild salmon has disapeared in so much places.
-That actually caused a little panik. And in some places they're trying to do something about it.

And on the other hand he doesn't mind the navy using them to clean up mines...

Oh.
I thought everyone knew these days.
They are very smart animals. They get trained to look up mines. They get some metal thingy attached on their back, find mine... mine go BANG and useally also the dolphin.

I also remember something about seals being used for dirty jobs like that.
But I guess they discovered dolphins ware "better".

sorry faile
