I just answered my own post, yet again, though I am very thankful for those who wrote in. And, yes, I will admit there seemed to be some confusion regarding which "poisoning" I was referring to, as there is poison weapon, augment with poison damage, and poison skin (may be others as well, like poison arrows). Anyhow, I was speaking specifically to poison weapon, meaning to apply a poison potion to a weapon.

Indeed, poison comes in different strengths and this will impact the damage done: minor poison, poison (regular), super strength poison and so on. I have either purchased or found all of my poisons thus far, so I have no idea how the alchemy skill creates poisons, but I assume that it depends on what you find (poison mushrooms, garbage, etc.) or how big an empty container you use, or both. But, I assume, whatever you find in nature to fill your flask with, it will then convert it to a standard (e.g. minor, normal, super...).

As it is... you first select the skill (so that it is right-clickable), you then must go into your inventory and LEFT-CLICK on the poison type you wish to use. This will then be indicated by the correct flask size down below where your poison weapon skill is displayed. Right-click again at any time to apply the poison to the weapon (there is no dragging or eliminating poisons from inventory, etc.). So, kudos to Kiya, who, I found after having discovered the solution, got it right.

WHY (???) do they do it this way is yet another quaint enigma of Divine Divinity. The game is fun, yes, but filled with inconsistencies of design, I must say. For example, when you select the "deadly gift" skill, it wisely lists your available traps automatically on the right, so that you can specify which types of traps you wish to lay. Makes sense. So, they could have had poison weapon do exactly the same: select the skill and all your available poisons show up on the right. But they don't. You have to go to your inventory to choose. Why? I have no idea. Maybe a programming issue. Maybe someone forgot.

So, what happens if you don't choose one manually by going into inventory? It defaults. To what and why, I have no idea. Maybe it auto-selects the most potent poison. Maybe it selects the most recent poison you picked up. Maybe it selects the one furthest to the left in your inventory. If anyone cares to puzzle this one out... more power to you. For now, I will be left-clicking in my inventory. Thank the gods for the pause button.
