I'm reading a lot of conflicting information on turn order in this game. It seems confirmed that in Tactician, it's you, enemy, you, enemy etc. Meaning there's no point is putting points into Wits until after you've maxed your primary damage stat, https://vidmate.onl/ and even then, you're only doing it for crit chance because initiative means nothing.

Is this also true in Classic? I'm trying to determine if I should invest int https://mobdro.onl/ o Wits every couple of levels or if that's point https://wordcounter.onl/ less and I should ignore initiative. m

Who goes first is generally determined by initiative (with modifiers if is a surprise attack either way), and after that the order of combat alternates between the party and opponents. The highest initiative character or opponent goes first (some bosses will always go first, special skills can move characters to the start of the order in the next turn, etc, and some NPCs are scripted to go first for story reasons, such as the magister crushed by a tentacle when you first go above deck at the start of the game), then the highest initiative from the opposite team, and so on.

During early access the turn order was determined by straight initiative, but many people found that it wasn't fun to either easily win just because most or all of the party went before weaker opponents, or to have the party wiped out after walking into an ambush (even if there were warning signs), never having a chance to do anything (the frogs in the cave in Fort Joy being one of the main sources of frustration with this).
