I like arena events in RPGs, rewarding titles, dialogue augments (reputation), gear etc for defeating increasingly difficult combatants, always good fun. That would be cewl.

Hmm, how does Battle Royale fit into a d&d rpg? I don't intend to be rude(well, maybe just a little) but come on! Can we please refrain ourselves from trying to turn this game into a clown fiesta?! A mish mash of every game genre that contains a little of something for someone in pursuit of trying to please everyone like this is gonna be THE GAME that beat them all. And end up with a product that pretty much everyone will realize, is not what they wanted. GAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!!!

After all, i intent to create half-orc barbarian that was Gladiator ... sooo ... why not return to old glory for a while.

Well. alright then. A compromise. let it made easy for modders to put in an arena module but I really hope devs wont take precious resources away from the story mode that a Baldur's Gate is all about, to put in a "game style" that has nothing to do with d&d. BG3 ain't even a mmorpg. It's a single player game with multiplayer co-op. Now go back and play fortnite or pubg you. Shoo!
