I bought the game last April and have started over each time there was a major update.

I noticed though on the second major update; each time I logged into my Steam account there was an small update to Baldur's Gate. The updates are persistant and vary in size between 17 kb and 9.7 MB. This is every day like clockwork. I figured, ok well its something up with the code and they will sort it out. Then the third major updaye landed, it downloaded and now each time I enter Steam there is an update. if I load Steam there is a update, if I then exit Steam and reload it on the same day there is an update.

I finally thought that maybe the download cache in Steam was messed up so I cleared that via the Steam portal and the updates stopped for one day then just started up again.

Its not really a big deal and doesn't seem to affect the game in any way; its just annoying to constantly see!

So any thoughts? Are there really updates daily or is something amiss?

Uninstalling and re-downloading is something I'd rather not do as my ISP speed is only 10 MB/s

This is likely one of two things:

You have cloud synch on, so it's trying to synch your saves from the cloud.

Alternatively, someone on Discord mentioned that disabling shader pre-caching made this stop for them (steam general settings > shader pre-caching > untick the box).

Great, thank you. I'l checkout the 2nd option as I have cloud sync turned off on all of my games.

I found the shader precache and unticked the box, lets see what happens.

It worked or so it seems. Today was the first time I logged into Steam and there was no update to Baldur's Gate, so it seems to have done the trick.
