On a particular play through I specifically avoided Astarian until after I met the monster hunter by the hag tea house, I convinced the monster hunter to tell me who and what he is hunting and he named Astarian and said he was a vampire spawn... I then went to Astarian to see if there would be any changes in dialog and sadly there are not. Nothing when he "introduces" himself either. This is something that needs to be looked at if someone does not meet Astarian right away. I did this honestly as a means of killing Astarian to fit within the story-line within the game, but no good dialog options came out of this. Even if I had not done this test the initial meeting dialog options with Astarian need to be open to a few more options, as the limited ones available now just make players want to kill him and be done with it.
