Hi all,
I'm in Act IV and it just dawned on me. I didn't really get to finish the Catacombs in Act III and I never restored the Raanaar Doll which I thought was one of the main quests. Is this going to be a problem? I really don't want to go back to Act III and have to redo all I accomplished in Act IV.

ahh, um, isn't it impossible to go back to ACT 3?

Thanks. I didn't mean going back to Act III I meant going back to a previous save in Act III.
OK, the quest is not necessary to finish the game which is good to know but could someone tell me what I should have done to complete the quest just to satisfy my curiosity?

I am in Act 3 now, and I am going on the premise that one must solve quests for the Temple of Chaos and (have not figured out how yet) maybe win some bouts in the Arena to move to Numero Uno on the rankings list. At that point, you can get into the Temple to talk to the Bishop (who supposedly can restore the doll to Raanar form).
Currently, I have a solid hold on last place in the standings....heh...

Finishing => getting 3 symbols for Goddess Raan - => restores Anlokam. She disappears from your inventory - and then get the reassembled crystal (this is unavoidable).
I think, you missed the 3 symbols, hm? If so - are you able to read all manuscripts in Act 4???? Kiya

No, this is ok - you had an automatic cut scene and Anlokam teleported you to the guardian door for Act 4. There are some items still remaining in your inventory after act change => ditch it. Kiya

I think if you run into the room with the crystal fragment (before restoring the doll) it may bypass the cut scene, I'm just guessing haven’t tried it.
Is it just me or was any one else disappointed when Anlokam just left with ought even offering to join the party....

in a very early version, the doll remained in your inventory. But during the cut scene she thanked you (with Raan). I found it more logical for her to vanish. She's free at last and with her Goddess. Kiya

That's what I did wrong. I went for the crystal too early and didn't get those 3 symbols. I thought I'd be sent back to get them and instead was sent to Act IV. From reading here, that's why I can't read any notes in Act IV.
Bummer.
Anyway I have the information thank you all. This is a really helpful board.

Kiya, if you're saying what I think you're saying then I needed to do the 3 symbols in order to complete the summoning quest (which I have yet to do).
It sounds like I'm going to be a very unhappy camper and may have to load a previous save in Act III and lose all the work I've done in Act IV.

If it's about reading manuscripts => just go back to a catacomb save, level where the fragment was and look for a teleporter on the west side - hop on it and then search this dungeon on the west side again => book on barrel. Kiya

actually, if you held on to any of the partially translated notes, they shouldn't be too difficult to fully translate, with context clues. i was doing that before the first book was found in act 1. albeit i had a small success rate given i only was able to guess some of the alphabet due to the note on the wall stating: go down please help us, in raanar runic. at least that was the logical translation. then i got the book 1 and book 2 for the translation but haven't actually made a concerted effort to read and translate figuring i'll just let the game do it. but in looking at some of the books and notes as i pick them up (i've been carrying the ones i find with me to see what they say, just in case there's something interesting once they are translated), i've been able to make out partially translated words or phrases rather easily. so unless there is a game mechanic that actually requires you to have found all the books in game in order to solve them, you shouldn't have a problem with the summoning quests, in theory. it will just take a little more brainwork on your end.
be interesting to find out. let us know willya?

Everyman, some gamers had probs in solving the summoning quests in Act 4. I don't know if their inability to have the books in readable way was the prob. May have been a different cause, of course. Had no save to try it out. Kiya

bummer thats why i suggested trying just self translation... or is the game expecting that you acquire ALL the translation books?

Acquire in the sense of taking them? Nope, but I guess reading them. As I said, I had no time to try out if summ. test probs were due to this fact or not. As Raze says: Better safe than sorry Kiya
One day, I'll think of it and avoid the last book - just for a try.
