I may have completely screwed up. Hero and DK are level 9. I have not put all of my attribute points into a few things, I have distributed them fairly evenly. When I get spotted by 1 of the level 12 DKs, not only can I not kill it, I can not even hit it. Any weaknesses you can point out would be helpful.

DK has 6 skill points in one handed damage/slashing and a short sword. Hereo has 5 skill points in one handed damage/crushing and has a spiked club. Now they both have shields is that a problem?

That is where I think I screwed up. I didn't pump up the strength. STR is like a 12 or 13 and it takes a 15 or 16 to use a two-hander. I have no spells.

my hero has it devided between agility, strength. constitution, and intelligence. lean, mean, spellcasting/fighting machine.

If you are in Citadel and you are refering to the DKs there, then try this : On the first turn of the coridor in Citadel turn right. There is a room there with the next Battlefield key which unlocks the second dungeon. Sneak to that room and visit Battlefields. DKs are very hard to kill so you will need all the xp you can get. Use pause key very often and try to have as many portions as you can. You can fix your points with strenght etc the next time you level up. I got all DK with one handed weapon and spells.

Putting points in damage but not in accuracy may be why you aren't hitting the DKs.

The other thing is, are your points being used in the One Handed skill or the One Handed & Shield skill? If the former, none of your bonuses are working and you are effectively attacking the DKs with no melee skills at all - a sure recipe for disaster and death.

The DKs are very tough opponents.

The purpose of the level 12 DeathKnights in those corridors was for the player to sneak past them. In early versions of the game, they were near immortal so that the player really HAD to think and sneak. Now with the Battlefields in, and with some luck finding good magical items, they should indeed be mortal, but still not easy...

Sneaking through DKS is a good option but you must be prepared because sometimes you can not sneak through them. I did the main floor exploration on sneak mode but then I got tired by this and decided to slaughter them once and for all. It was not that hard if you put your DK to take all the damage. Suply him with health portions and my hero who is a Mage with mana portions. It took a while but in the end all DKs died

There are times when I try throwing arrows at them and I hit, but does no damage! (The text "No Damage" pops up).

I haven't try spells, or sharpen weapons then. But now I know...

I made a visit to the battlefields first, and after doing 2 or 3 quests there and finding some decent items, I decided not to bother with the sneaking!!

I hunted the buggers down...and though the first couple where hard (took a lot of potions) I killed them all. There was nothing left alive in the citadel expect the imps when I was finished!

Well I think it depends on you Accurancy etc. Trying with another weapon, or spells you may achieve more damage.

I had shields equipped for both. As soon as I got rid of the shields, weapon damage almost doubled and, I was able to take them out. Many of you said I was supposed to sneak by them. That did not work they saw me and attacked anyway.

When you say "throw arrows" do you mean like a giant dart? I notice when skeletons attack with arrows it looks like they are throwing them. I.E. not using a bow.

This is because you have invested skill points in onehand weapon, you need to invest in the skill one hand with shield if you want to fight with a shield.

I recognize this problem quite well, since they were fairly hard to beat when I first encountered one.

I used this tactic on them:

1. make sure your second skill is set to SNEAK.
2. Sneak just in the sight area of a single deathknight (marked red), then lure it away from others. If you venture too far away, the deathknight will turn around and resume its normal patrol. Use as much magic as you can, or just equip weapons you're proficient in and slash away! Use stat-potions if needed. I was a level 9 WARRIOR(hero) and MAGE(Deathknight) when reaching that level, so you shouldn't have a problem with them if you do it this was, even if you have divided your stats evenly.

Hope it works

Just wanted to add a point on sneaking by the DKs. Just because you are revealed to them does not mean you are stuck fighting them. Try running away and around a corner or into a side room. Keep trying this.

Because they are melee fighters, you take little damage running away, and the area is purposely built with lots of side rooms and circuar passages to enable you to run and return to sneak again once you have shaken them.
