Hello all!
So I LOVE the new room portal system. Always being able to see what's ahead against all logic needed to be fixed, for sure. It adds immersion, lessens meta-gaming (which I couldn't resist doing), and is all around better. However, I dont think you should be completely unable to know what's in the next room if there is noisy stuff happening in there. For example, if there are a bunch of snorting, farting, grunting goblins in the next room, I should be able to make a perception check to listen at the door and hear them. And then either a super grayed out image of enemies appears in the blackness of the next room OR the narrator announces something like "You hear shuffling feet and grunting of a creature through the door." or "You hear birds chirping and water flowing. This door seems to lead outside." or whatever else. Maybe there could also be some sort of smells or temperature changes or torchlight that could be perceived through doors? Just an idea! What do you guys think?

I like this idea and fully agree with this suggestion. From my experience with tabletop D&D, it is very common that players try to listen to what is going on ahead, or behind closed doors.
