The Wild Magic surge table is fun both in 5e and the even in this BG3 version...it's unpredictable, it's good, it's bad, it's chaos and that makes it fun
But that's not what makes the subclass powerful...A Wild Magic Sorc gambles in the chart for Tides of Chaos.
Tides of Chaos *has* to reset after a Wild Magic Surge...otherwise the subclass is pointless
The table isn't particularly good...some options are downright detrimental. Even the good ones aren't that good, so there's no benefit unless a surge gives you access to Tides of Chaos again
This is literally in the PHB so please implement it

Indeed - Tides causes surges, and surges reset Tides, this is the core flow of a wild magic sorcerer. It was a big sticking point in the break down on their implementation of Sorcerer, over in the focus thread (over Here, go read if you're interested ^.^). Every voice counts.

Thank you for the thread... As you said, Tides of Chaos is *the* Subclass feature. It's the entire point and not resetting Tides with a Surge breaks the class

You're not quite right there. In the PHB, Tides doesn't reset on random (1 on a d20) wild surges. It only resets when you've used it and you cast another sorc spell, at which point the DM can decide you trigger a surge (no d20 roll needed).
I understand there's no DM in this game, so having it reset when you do roll the 1 makes sense. I actually think your odds should go up to 25% for triggering a surge when you've used Tides – to simulate the DM being keen for you to roll on the table. That way you have a better chance of getting your Tides back and also seeing more surges.
It's worth noting that in the PHB 80% of surges are benign or beneficial, and only 20% are detrimental...

Besides, just from playing it, I don't think it only occurs on a 1 (5% chance) and the description says using Tides of Chaos *increases* the chance of a Surge

Hopefully it's just not fully fleshed out yet. There are a lot more things you should be able to use Tides on but that won't work until there's a proper reaction system – eg. being able to interrupt a saving throw to add advantage with Tides. Maybe they'll fix the reset when that comes online – fingers crossed.
