The new UI in Patch 7 allows to filter spells by their level, by clicking on the appropriate Spell Slot icon on the action bar. The level 1 spell slot is a bit wonky right now, asking us to choose a spell slot level even after we already selected it, but level 2 icon works as it should.

Now, can we have an additional button on the action bar which, when clicked, will display all cantrips the character knows?

Shadowheart, with her Guidance in particular, would benefit immensely from such a filter.

+1!

Just a small note:

While icon works great in matter of "i filtered spell level II. bcs i want to cast spell level II. and not choose spell level again" ...
Just want to point out that some spells dont show in level II. bar, bcs they for some reason dont know they can be upcasted (even tho they can be upcasted if you try to cast them from your main bar). O_o

So far i noticed this for:
- Chromatic Orb
- Create or Destroy Water

I still dont understand why cant we change Race for our hirelings. frown

On one hand I doubt many characters have enough cantrips to require an entire "separate panel", but on the other hand I would also love to see them grouped separately from the rest of the spells for increased visual clarity.

Party control in Baldur's Gate 3 is a complete mess that begs to be addressed. SAY NO TO THE TOILET CHAIN

Remember that Wizards can learn cantrips from scrolls (i know they should not) ... and they are able to learn any spell in the world (i know they should not laugh )

In my curent game, Gale have 7 cantrips. laugh

Yep. And also Disguise Self, at least the version of it that Shadowheart has.
This one is particularly unusual, actually. It doesn't appear in the level 2 slot filter, but it also doesn't request level selection after you choose the type of disguise. I haven't tested it, but it might be that this spell is not upcastable.

On a related note, I actually like the homebrew of learning more cantrips. It makes no sense a Wizard can learn all leveled spells but not all cantrips.

At any rate 3 cantrips is way too few. The most basic setup of an Attack cantrip, Mage Hand and Light already use up your 3 picks so it's not really about choosing anything. There's no room for fun stuff like Minor Illusion, a defensive cantrip like Blade Ward or a secondary attack cantrip for melee or an alternate damage type. And with all the fun explosive stuff Larian likes to place everywhere, you need Fire Bolt and can't really choose Acid Splash, Ray of Frost or Poison Spray for that reason alone. It feels really stingy.

I don't see it as much of a balance issue either if the Cantrip selection was larger or more flexible. Martials got their weapon skills, casters could get a better selection of cantrips for that reason alone.

Test scenario: Shadowheart at level 4 with WIS 18. Her spell panel is completely packed with all sorts of domain-specific rubbish, and considering how often the party might benefit from Guidance, this alone would result in a big improvement.

On a related note, can we get a proper way to sort the spells in our list? Every time I arrange them as I'd like, the moment I have to load a save or level up, my lists are rearranged and I have to start the process all over again.

It depends for me. If Larian improves how hotbar works, then no I don't need - I will want cantrips assigned to hotbar as they are free to use, and therefore I will be most likely to use them most often - however, as hotbar still requires maintenance as spells add themselves without my permission, in places I don't want them a cantrip selection would allow me to ignore hotbar entirely for spellcasters.

Agreed ...
Even tho, if someone would like to replace that with "Cantrip Formulas" (via. http://dnd5e.wikidot.com/wizard) i would not mind that one either. smile
