Of course not. But most of my Tav's are pretty nice people who would ask if taking the ring away from Omeluum would put him at risk of being found by an Elder Brain.

So an option to clarify this would be appreciated. Also good work on his tentacles, nothing janky this go 'round.

I genuinely do not want to take the ring from him; if it is protecting him from being found - and re-dominated - by the far-reaching senses of whatever elderbrains linger in the material underdark still, then I want him to keep it, personally. He represents something important - something that should be given every chance to flourish and prove itself, and maybe in the future inspire others (not unlike the caste-breaking of a certain drow once did).

Ideally, rather than simply not acquiring it, I'd like a dialogue option to voice a refusal to take it, or at least voice such a concern, to him about the matter.

I kind of doubt he'd give up the ring if it was that important, but I'd still appreciate an option to ask him about it, or at least an option to refuse that doesn't make me sound like the Emperor

It was been quite I while now since I did the tests so Larian could have changed things...but I couldn't find any real use for that ring in the EA up to and including the Druid patch(that is the last I played).
I did a run where I used a flying pet to make its way to the myconid village via flying down from the Blighted village and through the spider's lair to the UD. Once the pet discovered the myconid warp stone I warped me and SH from the beach warp stone where they had been waiting, fresh off the crashed ship. I did Omeluum's quests and got the ring then warped back to the beach and started the surface content all with the ring equipped to look for affects.

You can still use the tadpole dialogue options.
Dialogue option use still triggers dreams.
Enough dialogue option use will still result in everyone getting the tadpole powers.
I believe companions can still use the powers if you are wearing the ring. It only stops you.

I did a longer post on it all previously but don't have a link off hand. I do remember seeing mention of a potential datamined negative effect from tadpole growth that is suppose to happen at some point that the ring may or may not prevent.

I'm looking forward to what they do with the powers and the ring. I hope those choices really matter in the long run.

And I agree. If someone tells me that they're giving me their life-saving medicine, I'd like an option to talk about how they're going to live without their medicine.
