So this has kind of bothered me for a while... why are MOST of the face options (regardless of race) between average and moderately attractive for the character creator? At first I thought it was maybe because Larian had hired artists incapable of doing really attractive/ unattractive faces, but then the person you dream of has some additional face options that your character can't have that are pretty (at least for females), there are several NPCs with pretty/handsome faces, and Shadowheart is pretty easy on the eyes (infact she is pretty much the most attractive female in the game thus far imho). However this complaint isn't just about the lack of attractive people its also about the lack of UNATTRACTIVE people as well. Aside from like one NPC that I can think of there isn't any woefully unattractive people either (not counting ugly races like goblins and hobgoblins).
The game just lacks... range... you have these wonderfully detailed models to only give us average looking people? I will grant I am mostly judging on how females look... because well I'm not attracted to dudes for the most part. (though I will admit Halsen is a rather handsome looking dude). Look I am not asking that Larian modify the NPCs to include more attractive and unattractive people... those can be average MFers for all I care (especially the NPCs that are just there to fill space and have no impact on the story, in fact they should be average as to kind of blend in a little), But if Larian isn't going allow us a character creator where we have sliders and options for each part of the face to create our own faces and bodies (which in a D&D game is crying shame) the least they could do is give us a wider range of faces and bodies
The same goes for the age of your character... they obviously can do characters who aren't in their prime age wise, I am not asking to play children (because uh that might be awkward and this isn't an anime where a 12 year old leaves home on their own and the parent is okay with that), but how about Characters that look a tad more youthful (right now all the face options IMHO look like they belong in the 25-35 category) or tad bit older?
I will say this though, I do prefer the realistically average look to EVERY option being a "Super Attractive" person, that said making ALL the facial options to look like a fairly average human is just lazy and also clashes with D&D lore, Example: Elves are supposed to be beautiful... So where are the Elves that look like Orlando Bloom (when he played Legolas) and Scarlet Johanson? Where are my buff characters that look like Jason Mamoa (He's kinda what I think about when I imagine a male, human or half orc Barbarian) or Gina Careno? Where is my Wizard that looks like Mckellen? These are just examples, I don't obviously expect Larian to make Celebrity lookalikes.
Point is having some options for attractiveness and age of the Character might be nice. I mentioned this in another post, but scar options would be nice too. ANYTHING that gives our character more... character.
