Early in the game's release I used to pretty consistently get cinematics like Laezel wanting to kill me because of the infection, or getting dream sequences, or getting a visitor in the night and etc...

But now? When I play I barely see any. I could have already cleared the goblin camp or killed a hag but no triggers on things I saw consistently early in the game development.

Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong?

The dream sequences only trigger after using the illithid powers. It starts with a voice that says, "Where are you?" when you're falling asleep. The first use of the illithid power is usually somewhere around Wyll when you have the opportunity to look into his mind. From there, it's just a question of how often you use the illithid options.

Raphael as a visitor triggers, I believe, after you talk to Nettie in the grove.

Astarion's bite triggers sometime after you see the dead animal along the path.

Some of the scenes trigger if you Long Rest early, like Shadowheart asking if resting is wise. But that scene will not trigger if you wait to Long Rest until you've already learned from Nettie that your ceremorphosis isn't advancing at a normal rate.

Basically, it all depends on what you do and when you do it, at least to my understanding.

Raphael 's visit triggers after your first attempt to remove the tadpole I believe.

The number of camp events have gone down since launch when it seemed like multiple flags would be tripped at once. I haven't had the tadpole conversation with Lae'zel in a while either, I think it's tadpole use gated.

If you haven't seen the Astarion scene that one is pretty difficult to miss, unless you know what to avoid, there's two or three places I've had the dead boar spawn.

I also have found it hard to trigger various dialogues.

I thought maybe it was just me.

Gales weave scene only triggered once so far. I haven't had Lae'zel trying to kill me scene in a long while. But stupid Astarion always hast something to say. Nowadays, I just kill him, which helps a bit with the other scenes, but the two mentioned in the beginning never trigger anymore. I don't care much about the weave scene, since I don't want to romance Gale, but I feel bad for the Gale fans, who probably spend more time longresting to trigger it than actually playing the story.
I really like the scene with Laez'el though and Wish to see that again.

I have noticed a reduction as well. In a recent playthrough Gale remarked on being allowed to absorb magical items even though this had not even occurred yet.
