I spent one or two points in the sneak skill for both characters in Act 1 to get by the DK patrols, and then found out I could just whack them. I have not used sneak once since then. Is there any reason to keep the skill? I am now early in Act 3...

I was thinking of trading sneak in for some skills that will be more useful...can anyone see any compelling reason not to drop sneak and put the skill points elsewhere?

After checking, it was just one skill point for each character....

I've yet to use sneak, except once to try it out. Some people like firing arrows at tough opponents from sneak mode and withdrawing as they approach, in a hit and run tactic. The basic sneak skill should be good enough for that, though higher levels would probably help.

I don't think I ever used it throughout the whole game.

Sneak is just not something I think of as being terribly useful.

Depends on your play style, Misterbill. I cleared a lot in single sneak mode, with hit&run. Specially strong monsters. E.g: the gargoyles in Act 1, maze, the DK in Act 1 - the ranger DK in Samuel's lair, Act 1 - Act 3, the Blood knights.

And I use this also to make screenies for gamers who have probs finding stuff - e.g. the 3 plants in Act 3. Same goes for areas, where I want to fulfill a quest and don't want to bother with monsters at that time.

So, if sneak is of no use to you - then drop it

Hmmmmm....had not thought about the "hit and run" tactic. I will give that a try and if it works, maybe keep it for my mage/archer Hero character...Thanks!

OK, I tried it and man is it effective! I was able to kill a Blood Knight in Act 3 with standard ranged-with-tank tactics, but with this hit-and-run using sneak, my mage/archer Hero was able to kill several of them without all the mana and healing potions I needed before. Rather than drop the sneak skill, I am now going to use it to scout new areas and more easily whack the harder mobs....
