Problems:

1. So, let's imagine you want to make an evil, gruesome character with anger control problems. How could you do that in BG3 aside killing everyone? You just can't. Your character will always make silly faces during cutscenes with no emotions at all - it breaks not only immersion, but roleplayong aspect as well(i imagine my character to be fearless warrior who occasionally can't contain his anger, but on my monitor i see a blank face with a stupid grimace, yikes)

2. Backgrounds. They are redundant now in BG3, but in dnd they are very important, as they add more flavour to your character to roleplay

My suggestion:

1. Rework our character behaviour during cutscenes. Make it more in touch with our vision of the character
2. To make it happen add ideals/flaws system(like in dnd) - little tweaks to our behaviour that define our character more. So you choose soldier background, for example, then you choose your flaw - you can't contain anger, but your ideal is that you value frienship a lot(these flaws and ideals can be homebrewed as much as they want honestly). And bam - at character creation we already have somewhat defined character with a personality. And if cutscene-behaviour patterns would be aligned to those ideals/flaws, we'll get even more detailed character, with lots of immersion

your thoughts?

Would be much better if Larian would just keep the camera focusing on the NPC we are talking to, and dont switch is back to us ... UNLESS there is something specific they want to show us. :-/

As about the rest ...
I would just get back to my constant complaining about horribly insufficient dialogue choices. :-/

I cant help it, it just seems incredibly stupid that you are forced to accept Astarion mocking apology, and only after that you can kill him for threatening your life. :-/

I still dont understand why cant we change Race for our hirelings. frown
Lets us play Githyanki as racist as they trully are! frown

Oh snap! I've already answered in another threads a few minutes ago. KK Quoting myself again grin

Flaws and ideals aren't as important to me as to join factions for side quests, to benefit from faction-typical privileges and ofc to dive deeper into immersion. There are special backgrounds that are predestined for this but unfortunately are not yet in the game, which I would like to have added. See below:

Especially the last two make me curious. Choosing that backgrounds and joining a faction / being a sell-sword for all the mercenary companies would be awesome. There is a lot of potential such as encounters with the infamous Bregan D'aerthe and completing assignments for them and other mercenary companies. The Zhentarim and Flaming Fist are already part of the Game.

as much as i would want to join factions, i highly doubt Larian would do that. It doesn't connect with the main plot, where you need to find a cure from ceremorphosis, expose a great mindflayers/someone else's plan and so on. Joining zhentarim on the way will create ludonarrative dissonance

Why should it be mutually exclusive? From the middle of BG 2 there were also strongholds as factions in a broader sense and shortly afterwards you were "soulless" and had to stop Irenicus in order not to die, but you could do "private stuff" on your path to survive. A soul-deprived, doomed, or now tadpole-soul-enhanced time bomb isn't all that different to me...

I only try to imagine Larian perspective on it. I would like to join zhentarim

Their whole design is that there are no "real" side quests. If you look at it, every side activity connects with the main plot somehow. For example, you want to help barcus wroot. Then you learn, that his friend can be kept somewhere in the Underdark. Then you learn that grymforge is full of gnome slaves, but you need to go there nonetheless. Then you learn that barcus's friend was sent to moonrise towers, and you need to go there for the main plot.

And every side quest arc does the same thing. So only if Larian will somehow justify you joining a faction for the main plot, they won't let you do it otherwise

I see. Then I hope Larian read the following: We already know the Zhents are in Baldur's Gate. Maybe some (important) Zhents are also infected with tadpoles and are looking for a cure by gathering more information and eventually they will meet us. The Zhent Agent at the Goblin Camp complains that she can no longer buy slaves from the Gobbos. This could result in the Zhentarim viewing the Cult of the Absolutes, like the Dragon Cult, as competition to be crushed as they learn more about the cult's plans for world domination. Et voila a plot friendly outcome.
