I think this game have amazing visuals then it comes to hair, faces, skin, eyes, races. Many variations.

Body types:
That I really miss is that humans don’t have different body types. When you like to make a really strong barbarian or warrior it looks the same as a weak wizard.

So different body types would make a huge difference. At least a muscular one for humans with a high strength. Maybe a fat one.

Cloths:

Be able to choose different colors in character creation. I really hope you will make this very small change.

To be able to choose some variations in cloths and armor. At least two different style for every class.

Like the wizard can choose between two different style of robes.

Armor:
To be able to choose colors on leather armor. Like a thief in black leather armor.
And maybe other armor or armor details. Leather details or color of cloths you see.

To not make every normal armor look the same.

Cleric symbols:
To give a different symbol to each cleric according the their god.

Weapons:

The great sword really needs to have an updated handle.

It would be nice to have a little different look on ordinary weapons. Maybe not al normal daggers and sword look the same. Maybe just some different colors of the steel.

There is so many different looking daggers in history.

Details for different races:
Some small variations in cloths, armor or weapons for different races would be nice.

Like runes on a Dwarven axe. Some leaf ornaments on the elven cloths.

I forgot earrings, piercings, more tattoos not only on the face.

But I would not be surprised if they are working on it.

Scabbards and backpacks would be great. As mentioned in a recent post. As a musician carrying a fine instrument on the back without cover you would ruin it very fast.

But when I think about it if you are fighting, climbing and crawling around in dungeons you would ruin it very fast anyway.

One option could also be. The player could start with only cloths. And find armor and weapons on dead people after they wake up.

But I would really like some more details and variations in appearance in cloths and armor.

The original characters has a beautiful outfits that gives them flavor.

I agree with you here. I doubt we're going to get body types into the game, but better armor and such is totally doable I feel.

I rather liked how Dragon Age: Inquisition handled it. Each character had basically two variations on their looks based on the type of armor they were wearing, and youwere able to alter the color of the armor bits while crafting. So every character looked unique and iconic, while also getting some variety. And for special, unique armor sets, those always looked the same on any character. I think that's a decent way to approach it in BG3. That way you never have to worry about characters looking generic. They all get to keep their own unique flavor.

In perfect world we would get ...
At least one typical outfit for our race (and i would not be affraid to get a little wild here ... for example if Dwarf get racial proficiency in Medium Armor, their raical outfit will be medium armor), at least one typical outfit for our class, at least one typical outfit for our background, and some generic stuff we will find later in game anyway.
Obviously option to pick any generic non-magical weapon for starters ... i mean who say that my Cleric cant travel the world with Trident even tho he is not profficient? :P

And option to change colors.
(Based on talking with Chubblot, some armor colores can be changed directly in code, by changing its value ... so it IS possible without creating whole new models! So ... maybe they are / were working on this?)

Also, in perfect world we would be able to strip any and every armor from any and every NPC. frown

---

So far at least Druids, Sorcerers, Bards and Barbarians have their "typical outfit" ...
While Fighters, Rangers, Rogues, Clerics, Warlocks and Wizards start in generic shits ...

If at least this would change in final release, and every class gets some own armor that would clearly distinguish them from any others ... i would be honestly quite happy. :-/

---

BTW a little offtopic, but not as much since it is still about appearance.
Did you notice those Duergar outfits? They are beautifull arent they? smile
And that is the problem. frown

Since (and feel free to corect me) one of main aspects of Duergar crafting is that it lacks any decoration ... Duergars of course DO craft ... arms, armors, clothing, all those things ... its in their blood, they are Dwarves after all ... but their prolonged exposion to Mind Flayer influence somehow "erased" their creativity, so all their arms, armors, clothing, cities and basicaly everything and anything Duergar create is SUPPOSED to be kinda hollow, purely practical, without any decorations ...

i'm fine with leather armour being the default armour your character gets as a thief but why can't it look different to everyone else?
for example a street rat background gives you a ruff and faded looking set of hand me downs while a nobile background gets gold icon of his house printed across the breast... its not that hard

p.s, a stick is the best weapon in the game so far, yes you have a magic greatsword from killing that boss but my thief picked up two touches for 4D6 damage = someone fucked up

That dont sound to me like good idea ...

I mean just bcs you have Urchin background doesnt mean you are homeless or beggar right now. :-/
Have you seen Game of Thrones? Varis was perfect example of such person with Urchin background.

Aswell as Noble background doesnt mean you are member of prominent part of society "right now" ...
Same show ... John Snow ...

I would certainly have no problem with ripped faded clothing ... or silk clothing with gold erb on chest ...
But for anyones sake ... DONT make it automatic, that is recipe for disaster! :-/

I still think armour in general is much too shiny. I would like to see it dull and dented, to show that has actually been used.

Many of this things I mentioned doesn’t seems that hard to implement and could be used for other NPCs.

And I hopefully they already planing to implement choices of color for cloths.

Also some variations in weapons, like two different kind of dagger, short swords, great swords would not be very hard but make a very nice difference I think.

I don’t really expect them to make race specific cloths. But a little bit more details to cloths would be great. But hopefully they already work on this.

Some of the class specific outfits are very nice. Druid, Sorcerer, Barbarian, Bard…

@ragnarokCzD I did not know that about Duergar.

I'm all for different outfits for races. Why would a githyanki wizard wear the same robes as a human wizard?

It's so much more interesting when these things are varied. Like the githyanki armor.

Glad to help. ^_^

Also ... sadly my own game is too unstable right now to get there ...
But
IF you decide to kill those first two Duergars that greets you on the other side of Ebon lake ... one of them have the most decorated sword in whole game (at least so far) its named King's Blade, or something simmilar ... while i understand he might have stole that, or loot it from some corpse ... its still a little odd to find such item on Duergar. O_o

I would disagree here ...
In first place, why would Githyanki Wizard even wear a robe? Githyanki are trained with Medium armor, and even their Wizards are profficient with them, meaning they can easily wear the same armor as Lae'zel while casting spells.

Thats what i would call racial differences. :P
Also i really like that armor. O:)

In my opinion character creation needs:

- an option for scars (preferably face and body)
- two more body presets, e.g. muscular and slim/slender
- a couple more face presets for some races, this is most noticeable with humans but others as well
- the ability to dye our outfits

What I think is also needed:

- some musical instruments are overly large and should be scaled down a bit. The lute and the flute in particular are too large.
- some weapons are oversized and should be made smaller, e.g. the rapier and the longsword.
- most weapons should be worn on our characters' hips instead the back
- equipped shields should be displayed on the back when not in combat

- a generally more "functional" look in armor designs. This mostly effects the +1 and +2 versions

This is something i will never understand ...
Why so many people have this urge to dictate others how are they suppose to wear their stuff? laugh

It's a matter of "realism" for me.

Most weapons were historically worn on the hip/belt to access them easily. I don't mind some weapons to be worn on your back, but in many cases it doesn't really make sense and tends to look ridiculous (e.g. maces, morningstars, hand crossbows). It's also bound to cause a lot of clipping issues when/if we get cloaks.

Yeah, heard that before ...

Axes and maces are good examples ...
But once we start concidering length of swords in this game, we sooner or later have to come to conclusion that it dont make any sense regardless of where will you hang it. laugh

Thats why i would really like to have option for both.
We know it is possible even right now ... it all stands on if Larian is willing to allow it or not.
