Whatever you all did this last patch, performance has considerably dropped. I am getting constant freezes, especially in combat but also outside of combat as well. The performance of the game has just gone to Avernus. I have been playing since EA first released, and this is just god-awful, it has never been this bad. I am running the game full screen, the vast majority of my graphics settings are medium or low, and while my specs will say I have HDs, I actually have SDHDs, basically a HD/SD hybrid.

I haven't had any issues running the game prior to this patch.

Can confirm my performance is also terrible. CPU jumps to 100% every 5 minutes and causes a full game freeze for up to 10 seconds. Did not happen prior to this patch.
I also have a Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6600K CPU @ 3.50GHz 3.50 GHz

My pc however has an RTX 3060, wih 32 GB of DDR4 2133 and 2 ssds running in raid 0 over sata.

Yep, i am experiencing that too--I didn't run task manager to check CPU useage, but it definitely was getting up there because I had the solid 10 second freezes too, especially right before cutscenes or right before combat starts.

AND you have more memory than I do with 2 SSDs instead of 2 SDHDs, so I think yours lends more credibility to this being a game issue--although the fact that I didn't have it happen prior to this patch should still prove that imo.

That is weird, for me, the performance has improved a lot with patch 8, I was pleasantly surprised. In previous patches, I have had similar issues to the ones you described.

I am playing on a laptop (ASUS TUF GAMING FX504GM_FX80GM)
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8750H CPU @ 2.20GHz (12 CPUs), ~2.2GHz
Operating System: Windows 11 Home 64-bit
Memory: 8192MB RAM
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 /Intel(R) UHD Graphics 630

Funny thing is even on the lowest settings this issue still occurs.

My processor only has 4 cores... not 12.

Base Speed 3.5 Ghz
Sockets 1
Cores 4
Logical processors 4
L1 Cache 256KB
L2 Cache 1 MB
L3 Cache 6 MB

First i thought those freezes related to my overclocked CPU, but reading this thread it seems its not related to having it OCed.
Also my CPU (not GPU) on highest graphical settings + DLSS 2560:1440 runs a bit hot (Aircooled only with a mediocre Heatsink) on 67°C and its cpu usage is around 90-100%,
BUT the freezes are not happening when it hits 100%.
Freezes even occur at 95%-97% as i see it on RIVA TUNER STATISTICS in that moment.

And its very frequently. So my best 5 cent is, its something related to DATA in the Pipeline to be calculated and somehow this is not very well handled.

Hopefully this gets some traction with Larian, would love to see them continue to address performance although I can understand if that comes later.

They did something with shadows. I turned shadows to low, cloud quality to low and disabled lighting shadows and now im running at 50-60% cpu without any spikes or freezes.

i havent noticed any crashes. but the fps drops are insane.
the moment i put my cursor over objects characters etc fast it instantly drops to low 40s mid 30s from 75-80.
when im checking areas with the camera real quick fps drops at the same rate.
when characters cast spells fps also drop.
thats new, i never had these issues till patch 8.
