Yes, this has been mentioned before but why do all spells seem to have the same damn range?? Spells like sacred flame have the same range as chill touch or eldritch blast? Absurd.

I don't know what to add apart from +1.

I don't know why Larian figured some spell ranges needed nerfing. In fact, there are so many changes that were made, that were absolutely unnecessary, and I can't begin to understand why they were made.

Well apart from +1 I would like to add: Why do all bows have the same range, why do all swords have the same range?

Unification of ranges brings some simplicity to the game. Having same expected range for all ranged abilities prevents some frustration when deciding to use different ability after already moving.

And it’s probably way easier to code automatic movement into range with one set of distance variable.

Easier, but lazy. And it disrupts a balance system that was well thought out from the beginning. There are reasons why some classes get access to long range cantrips and others do not.

Im quite certain that Druidic spells have shorter range than Wizard ... but i didnt check. :-/


I still dont understand why cant we change Race for our hirelings. frown
