I think your talking to the wall.
Larian likes to showcase certain features to sell why their game is fun, and we all know they like to home-brew.
Better control of mage hand is supposed to be a rogue sub-class feature...but its fun, let's tweak it and let everyone do it.
Speak with the dead at will is a 9th level Eldritch invocation.
Whispers of the Grave
Prerequisite: 9th level
You can cast Speak with Dead at will, without expending a spell slot.
Now others can cast it, but burning spell slots to talk to every corpse is not anyone's first choice.
Of course, this is cool, so lets encourage everyone do do this, rather than letting their design be a hidden depth. It becomes: look what you can do!
Setting a character up at a ledge, with his back to you is a delicious "kick me" sign...but it has become a signature move, along with throwing chickens, barrels, bad sex, and snarky potty humor (Mostly ignoble thank goodness).
Trying to convince Larian to retcon some of its signature selling points, may be difficult, but I'm with you.
Why have the best defensive mechanics not been implemented properly this close to completion?
?,?,? and ????!!!!!
