I know reaction system is something already discussed but the way it's implemented right now is not good at all and I really hope they will rework it.

We already saw some example why it's not good right now, but with the new class Bard, it's even more obvious => Bardic Inpiration.
Bardic Inspiration is a very powerfull buff, but only if you can really choose when you want to use it.
In BG3, you can toggle on what kind of dice roll you want it to be triggered, and it will be triggered on the next one.
In PnP, you can choose to use it AFTER the dice roll is made (but before knowing if it's a success or a fail), and it's a huge difference.

Let's see a simple scenario:
  • You're fighting a boss and his minions
  • On your turn, you choose to only toggle the bardic inspiration on your next saving throw, because you know the boss can cast really annoying spell and you want to resist it
  • A minion cast a spell, you roll a saving throw, your bardic inspiration is used
  • The boss cast the spell you wanted to avoid, but you don't have bardic inspiration anymore

With the PnP rules, you should have chosen to not use Bardic Inspiration on the minion spell to keep it for the boss one

When paladin will be playable, it's will be even worst, for Divine Smite, where it's important to be able to choose to use it when your attack roll is made (for example, you want to use it only on a critical strike, or at higher level, you will use a lvl 1 spell on a simple hit, and a lvl 2 spell on a critical hit, etc..)

I know ppl become mad when we talk about Solasta here, but right now, I can't see another way to implement it in a better way as they did (with a popup window).
Maybe adding a option to choose if you want to use that popup window or the actual system, that way everybody will be happy.

That's all, just a reminder to Larian on that subject, I really hope you're working on it.

For this specific situation yes, I guess the only solution is to add constant popup.
Or eventually being able to toggle ON/OFF our toggles during the ennemies turns. But it would be a pain to do.

OK, adding a comment based on this play-through.

The way the skills window has developed to perfection, I am gaining confidence that the Larian team can tackle the reaction system (at a snails pace and with zero feedback...inviting people to assume the worst).

Skills are very Solasta like, if you have Shadowheart in the group and chose guidance and have enhance ability prepared.
You don't have to hunt for them, just click the options at the bottom.

It sure is nice to have advantage on all of my skill checks (enhance ability)...WOW.

We simply need this level of intuitive UI when we get to smites and certain spells (as well as address all the concerns clearly stated).
