Please consider giving us the ability to just create our own party of characters. All the other BG games and Icewind Dale games let you. Solasta allows it. Please allow it in this game or I spent money on this game that I will never finish.

To reiterate from a different thread, I hate every one of your NPCs. I get you were trying to make flawed heros to maybe give them more depth. But what you actually accomplished was creating characters I wouldn't allow to carry my luggage must let help me carry treasure.

None of them are worth a damn. They are all either outright evil or just annoying. I would much rather explore your world and the story without being weighed down with characters I HATE.

I tried playing the game with one character it is not playable. My biggest fear from what I have experienced of the game is that without the awful NPCs your story and setting is lacking. I am afraid you have invested so much story into these NPCs that we are being railroaded into having to have them to play.

I implore you to make the game more open and allow us to create our own characters or provide many more characters so we can have some choices. Because right now it feels like I am in detention with all the delinquents. Forced to hang out with reprobate that are just as likely to put a knife to my throat (see what I did there) as say hello.

I play RPGs to be HEROIC... not flawed.

As far as i know custom party was promised right in start of EA ...
Wonder why it still isnt a thing. :-/

But i gues just as with others most awaited confrimmed things (looking at you, rolled stats) they just keep it for themselves until final release.

It is possible to do this now, but the catch is that it requires starting four instances of the game at once, and keeping them going until all four have confirmed "launch game", which can be a strain on the computer. (As soon as you hit launch, you can - and really, really should - immediately kill all the other three instances) Being able to do that in an easier way would be nice.

Agree with OP 100%

I'm pretty sure my character would rather undergo ceremorphosis than spend another day with these companions.

It would be refreshing to have a good-aligned dwarf fighter, a virtuous dragonborn paladin, a selfless healer, and a wise elven ranger as companions. But, I guess those characters aren't "dark and edgy enough".

I don't know about dark and edgy, but they definitely sound more cliched than interesting.

That said, I hope everyone gets the chance to create multiple characters. It seems like something that will inevitably be available in the game. I can't imagine why it wouldn't be.

For me, creating own characters for my party would not be interesting, because I like the interaction/dialogues with our companions very much. I like to get to know them better with each dialogue and find out more about their backstories/character.
But I would like if there was an option to create own companions for players who prefer their own custom party, too. Different options for players with different playstyles/preferences are always nice.

Concerning the companions:
I am quite sure we have not met all future companions yet. I found this interview with Swen Vincke (Updated: Nov 10, 2020), where he mentions that not all possible companions are in early access yet, and I do not think that this has changed:

A quote from this article:
Quote
“There's been a group of people complaining about the fact that the companions are snarky and they have to have an opinion,” Vincke reveals. “But we’ve only put the ‘evil’ and the ‘neutral’ ones out there. We haven't put any of the ‘good’ characters in yet, so I think that will balance that.

Personally, I like the companions we have met so far - and I am playing helpful, "good" Tavs. If these are the "neutral" and "evil" ones, I am very pleasantly surprised. I am very glad they are no stereotypical, mustache-twirling villains, but complex and even sympathetic characters. I could imagine that the player could maybe influence them in one direction or another, and it would not be out of character, since they all are very nuanced characters, in my opinion.

I would like to write more about the character writing in BG3 (which is think is very good), and our companions, but I will do this in a seperate thread (when I have more time), since I do not want to derail your thread.

As many people guess, they are holding alots of things for the full release, even some functions, quest, companion etc. you can have in Act1, which they did before for DOS, and If I am the Devp i will do the same too

I look forward to the Good smile

The Bad and The Ugly are well acted, but can get old quick.

Now with Wyll, If he has finally opened his eye to the suffering of others, and is trying to make up for his spoiled selfish youth, than more power to him.

I connect best with his "others first" mentality.

Lae'zel is so well acted, but is completely taxing (great job with her though!).

Shadowheart is very useful, but her oozings over Shar are intolerable. Still wish I had the option to say, "You are not giving that artifact to Shar, hand it over or defend yourself."

The rest are meh.

This will be a completely different game to me if they show me that they can even do good.

Yes please, let me create my own companions.
