Some people complain about it. Too slow, draggy and so on. So much so that developers even introduced the swarm ai feature to try to combat that. (Which is, by the way, raising the question why not make it pseudo real time in the first place like it was in BG 1-2... Especially if the rules of dnd5e seem to not be respected by Larian that much. But it probably is too much and late for that)

1) So the suggestion to speed up the combat is this: during a turn of a creature (or of a group of creatures in case of the swarm ai) you can press THE BUTTON to skip animation of that turn. It probably should be an arrow like ->. So it completes the turn internally and only the animation is skipped. And if they intoduce reation system with reactions, then it's skipped to the reaction window, if not, it skips completely.

2) If something unexpected happened, you can read the log OR press ANOTHER BUTTON to replay the animation of the turn (a circular arrow). All the rolls are obviously the same. It basically should work like the replay the enemies' turn button in homm 3. This button can be usefull without first one too, to replay cool moments (to make a screenshot for example).

What do you think?

Personally I am perfectly fine with the speed of the game.

The only scenario which actually felt a bit slow was the battle for the Druid's Grove, as there are so many NPCs that it would take a while to get to play. But even so, I didn't mind the momentum of the battle.

I'm fine with the speed of combat.

The speed of the game itself can be massively improved by fixes to movement and inventory management, which is where a lot of the pointless admin and issues that slow things down come in.

I spend most of my time in combat FIGHTING with the CAMERA to find the enemy... who typically has elevation and the camera doesn't want to go up.

If we could just look upward that would help.

Good point the combat camera - camera in general, really - can certainly be improved. I assume it will, though.

I wouldn't assume that it will be fixed...its married to the engine (no looking up). It is the single worst aspect of the game, closely followed by the incivility of the NPCs.

I find this game best enjoyed slowly investigating everything. The camera issue is minimized with this approach (gentle touches to the crap camera controls).

I can see this being a major turn-off to those not familiar to the genre. Most people (in general) would probably prefer the camera be tied to the character (like floating behind in 3rd person) with the ability to look around.

I have personally adjusted.
